From raising 5 kids to slowly retiring in Greece! It has definitely been an adventure with lots of ups and downs, but no one else we would rather be with than each other. For guests flying in,(and coming straight to the island) we recommend flying non stop to Athens (Eleftherios Venizelos) airport and renting a car. Drive to the port of Rafina which is a 20 min ride. (Taxis, Ubers and buses are also available) From there you can board any of the three major ferries that stop at the island. Andros is usually the first stop and is approximately 2 hr from the port of Rafina. You can choose to take the super jet and arrive in 1 hr. (Weather permitting) you will need to buy a separate ticket for the car and drive it in to the ferry.Andros QueenGolden star ferriesFast ferriesSea jetsYou can access ferry schedule and prices at ferryscanner.comYou can also purchase your tickets online or via the many travel agencies around Rafina port.For those staying in Athens first, we recommend flying non stop to Athens (Eleftherios Venizelos airport) and taking metro or taxi to down town Athens. Multiple hotels and airbnb available in the surrounding area. We do not recommend renting a car if you will be in Athens down town. You can get around by foot, metro(highly recommend) or Taxi. I will attach a few options on hotels for Athens under here.Athens downtown to Rafina port is approximately an hour give or take with traffic and time of day and average taxi fare is 50 euro to take you there.The island is large and you will need a rental once there. So plan accordingly.Please feel free to reach out for any other questions!

Andros is known for its natural beauty and hiking trails. #1- Chora-Apikia-Pithara Waterfalls-Giala Beach Circuit #2 - Chora River loop #3- Chora- Livadia #4- Chora-Syneti-Dipotamata- Korthi Bay These are just a few to name. You can always hire a hiking guide as well. As with all unknown hiking trails please bring provisions and make sure you have experience.

Hiking 

You can visit significant monasteries dating from Byzantine period to the last years of the Ottoman Empire. The island is rich in religious history, featuring some excellent hagiographers, whose works have been preserved and now decorate various churches on the island. Besides the monasteries, one can also visit old Byzantine churches, such as Taxiarches in Messaria, Melida, Ypsilou, Kimisis Theotokou in Mesathouri, and Agios Nikolaos in Korthi.
