FAQs

Can I bring my child/children?

Although we love your children, we regretfully cannot accommodate them at the venue due to limited seating. We hope you are able to join us anyway and enjoy a relaxed afternoon/evening with friends and family.

Unplugged Ceremony

We will be asking that all guests stay off their phones during our wedding ceremony. We have hired an incredibly talented team of photographers to capture memories of our special day. Please stay present in this special moment with us, and feel free to take as many pictures as you like once the ceremony is over.

Attire

While we are not mandating that men wear kilts for our wedding, we would like to encourage those of you who truly wish to immerse themselves in the Scottish wedding traditions to give it a go. MacGregor and MacDuff would be our recommended outfitter for everything you need from the kilt itself to the shoes and socks (yes, there are special shoes!). They also offer a "virtual fitting" service which will make the process considerably either. The bride and groom are on hand to answer questions about this. The preferred alternative to a kilt is black tie. For ladies, formal attire. For inspiration, see the guide by the Knot here: https://www.theknot.com/content/wedding-guest-attire-cheat-sheet

Will there be an open bar?

While we will have an open bar during the cocktail hour, we will not be providing an open bar at our reception. A cash bar will be available.

Can I bring a plus one?

Our goal is to keep our very special day as intimate as possible, we are choosing to celebrate with only our closest family and friends. Thank you for respecting our wishes.

For American Guests: Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA)

American guests should keep in mind that they will need to apply for an ETA to enter the UK. It’s similar to the US ESTA, and replaces the need to apply for a visa. You can apply for an ETA and learn more here: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/apply-for-an-electronic-travel-authorisation-eta
. Everyone traveling needs to apply for an ETA, including children and babies.
You can apply online, but the app is quicker.

Can I/we get you a gift?

Please do not feel pressured to get us a gift, the most important thing to us is your presence with us on our special day -- especially given the distance many of you will be traveling to celebrate. We are registered at the Knot if you would like to contribute to our newlywed fund, send a gift directly to our apartment (save on luggage space!) or contribute to two charities we care deeply about.
