Thank you all for the best night of our lives 🤍
If you want to do more than enjoy the beach and good food, there are many activities and day excursions...
WHALE WATCHING – January is prime whale watching season. If you have not seen humpbacks up close and personal, we highly recommend this (or a fishing trip). Expect a 2-3 hour tour; you can book individual spots or a private boat. Expect to pay $60-$75 per person.
DEEP SEA FISHING - Usually a 4-5 hour trip, all boats leave from the south beach, and captains charge for panga and gas (the number of people does not affect price). Expect to pay around $350 and to see whales!
MOUNTAIN BIKING / HIKING –The jungle trails on both Sayulita's north and south sides are beautiful on bike or foot. Bikes are available to rent all over town. Guided tours are available; check out Airbnb experiences.
PLAYA DE LOS MUERTOS – Explore the beach of the dead by walking (or golf carting) south along the main beach road, past Si Senor restaurant, and then up the dirt road hill. You will walk down the hill through the graveyard. Playa de Los Muertos is on your right. This is also the start of a bunch of hiking/biking trails.
SURFBOARD RENTALS & LESSONS -There are endless places to rent surfboards or take lessons in Sayulita. There are surf shops in town or simply tents on the beach that will have boards or give you lessons. You can rent boards for an hour or a week! Our favorite surf shop is
MARIETTA ISLANDS – One of Mexico’s National Parks. Take a panga boat ride over to the islands (located off Punta De Mita). You can swim on a private beach/cave and check out the cliffs. This can be pricey (and touristy); expect to pay $75 per person out of Mita or $130 out of Sayulita.
San Pancho - This town is a 10-minute taxi ride north of Sayulita. We had a hard time deciding between these two towns for our wedding. This town is slightly quieter, with just as much character. Check out Tiera Tropical Beach Club if you want to relax away from all the chaos.
HORSEBACK RIDING – Horseback riding tours generally include both in the jungle and on the beach. Usually 1.5-2hrs and expect to pay $45-60 per person.
SAILING CHARTERS -. Alley Cat Tours is based in Sayulita and can provide more information.
GOLF CARTS – There are a lot of golf carts in town. Unfortunately, that doesn’t mean they are cheap but fun! You can likely negotiate a better rate for more than one day. Expect to pay $40-50 a day.
PARIS DELICE – Small French bakery for pastries, baguettes, and coffee
YAH-YAH CAFE – Great café on the south side.
NORTH SIDE CAFE – A north side breakfast and lunch spot with the best chilaquiles.
ORGANI-K – Best Smoothie and Juice spot with plenty of other options to eat or drink.
EL ITACATE – Great place for quick Mexican food.
TROPICAL HOUSE -A hidden gem on the north side, great food and a welcoming bar.
CHAMAN CREATIVE KITCHEN– If your looking for something fresh, this is a great spot. Meg’s favorite salad. Also on the northside.
EL JAKAL – fresh catch fish served daily!
ACHARA – Amazing Thai food if youre looking for something other than Mexican. It is small and always busy so message them on Instagram @ACHARA_SAYULITA (OR IN PERSON THE DAY BEFORE)
ATTICO – A fun late-night bar with live music.
YAMBAK – Sayulita’s brewery. Don’t worry they serve more than just beer. Try our favorite hisbiscus cocktail!
TACOS EL IVAN & TACOS DE PASTOR DÍAZ – Late night (LESS THAN A $1 TACOS)! Both locations are in the town square
