Our Story

Colton wasn’t big on dating apps. He liked simple things like Saturday night hockey games on TV, early morning cups of coffee in the quiet, and peaceful weekends spent casting lines into calm lakes. But after a need to find a college football game after party and a few underwhelming swipes, he matched with Megan. Conversation started flowing and dating apps were deleted very soon after.

Their first date wasn’t your typical dinner. It was a rivalry Cat vs Griz hockey game with a few beers and competition. Colton chose to be a stubborn Griz fan to spite his friends and Megan, being an MSU alumni, cheered for her old college team.

Not long after a handful of dates Colton moved from White Sulphur Springs to Butte to join the vet fire crew for the next summer. Soon after meeting each others families, their connection grew stronger and many memories began to be made.

New years of 2024 they started dating and continued to watch hockey together as well as share other hobbies such as skiing/snowboarding, fishing, hiking, camping, etc.

Their love didn’t need fancy dinners or grand gestures; just shared thermoses, blistered heels from long hikes, and quiet glances that said, “I’m glad it’s you.”

The next February Colton and Megan went on a road trip to see Colton's brother Coy who is a helicopter pilot. They went for a beautiful flight over the snow capped Owyhee Mountains. After landing the helicopter to take some pictures, Colton and Megan were standing looking over the mountains and Colton pulled a small box from his jeans pocket. Inside was the perfect ring, practical, beautiful, and reliable, like the life they’d started building together.

He smiled, got down on one knee and said “Will you marry me?” With tears running down her cheeks Megan said yes to the easiest decision of her life. Which brings us to the Wedding!
