The venue is an excellent urban winery in the heart of D.C.—our absolute favorite in the area. We chose it for a reason (actually, for several). The immediate is super walkable and chock full of accommodations, places to eat, activities, and sights. A short mile from the Capitol—and even closer to Capitol Hill—District Winery is located in the recently redeveloped Navy Yard neighborhood. We love the area and the venue, and we hope you will, too.
What's the transportation situation?
Navy Yard is in a pretty dense part of the city. What that means, specifically, is that parking on-site is pretty limited and the lots nearby are pretty expensive. We're also (obviously) having an evening wedding on a Friday night, so the area will be busy. **We strongly, strongly, strongly encourage you to take a shared ride (Uber, Lyft, etc.) or public transportation.**
For those that really need to drive to and from the venue—and are planning to do this sober, of course—we encourage you to let us know as early as possible. We'll do our best to accommodate.
For folks that use a ride service: you can get dropped off pretty much right at the venue, on Water Street. You can use "the Yards Park" for orientation.
For folks taking public transit: I assume you're from the area and don't need us to tell you this, but you'll want the Navy Yard stop/whatever bus stop you would use for Nats stadium.
What's the best way to get to D.C.?
We really, really encourage you to fly into Reagan National (DCA). Dulles is very far, though on Metro and thus relatively inexpensive to access from D.C./the venue. BWI is also far, and not on Metro, though accessible via two trains (MARC and Amtrak; MARC is cheaper). National/DCA is awesome because it's either (1) a pretty affordable, 20-minute cab/Uber to the venue or (2) a two-train Metro ride to—literally—steps from the venue (airport to L'Enfant Plaza, L'Enfant to Navy Yard). We like National. Try to fly into National.
