SAFETY

Is Cape Town safe?

Cape Town is generally safe for tourists, especially in popular tourist areas. However, like any large city, it has areas with higher crime rates. Stick to well-known tourist spots and be cautious in unfamiliar areas, especially at night.

Which neighborhoods should I avoid?

Areas like Cape Flats and some parts of the city’s outskirts are known for higher crime. Stick to neighborhoods like Camps Bay, V&A Waterfront, Sea Point, and Gardens.

Don't worry we'll keep you on the beaten track.

CASH MONEY

South Africa uses the 'Rand'. Right now a Euro gets you 19 Rand. The price of a pint in Cape Town is 50 Rand. That's a cheap pint for us tourists! You get a lot for your money.

Card is accepted everywhere. No harm to carry some Rand cash for tips/taxis etc.
