If you are traveling and staying for the whole weekend Lake Martin is a 30-minute drive and is very beautiful. Columbus is 45 minutes away from Auburn. You can also stay in the Atlanta area if you need to fly in and out easier. Atlanta is about a two-hour drive from Auburn but allow for an extra hour depending on traffic.
