Although our favorite way to explore the city is by walking around as there is always something new to see or somewhere exciting to pop into; there are many other modes of transportation that are available.
Car Service Apps are very affordable in Lisbon. To get from one neighborhood to another wouldn’t be more than 5-10 euros. Uber, Bolt, and Freenow are all used in Lisbon so it may be beneficial to download and set up your accounts before your trip.
Tuk-Tuks-These open air vehicles are a fun way to get from place to place. You can find Tuk-Tuk drivers scattered throughout the city waiting to take you to your desired destinations. They charge more than car service apps, but they are usually quite convenient, fun, and the drivers are happy to share history and interesting information about Lisbon!
Trams-The iconic yellow Tram that runs through Lisbon is a fun experience so we recommend adding it to your Portugal bucket list. However, the trams are often quite crowded and hot and may not be the most comfortable way to make your way throughout the city. It’s worth a ride!
Take a tourist ride on Electrico 28-Tram 28 is the most famous tram in Lisbon. Why? Because it's route is perfect for a first time visitor in Lisbon; it's like having one of those tour rides in an open ceiling bus, but with a true Lisbon experience. At tram 28 you get to see the
people, to go through tiny lean streets and have a few minor heart attacks thinking "how is the tram going to fit in there!!".
Subway-The subway is a great way to discover Lisbon; it is a reliable, cheap, and well connected system. Especially if you want to head out a bit further than the center, such as Belém or Cascais.
We are so excited to spend time with and meet our friend’s little ones! Therefore, we are planning options for child-friendly activities and providing some childcare contacts. If you plan to come to Lisbon as a family we want you to be aware of a few important items.
Children are invited to all other weekend wedding events except the Saturday Evening Wedding Celebration. With that being said, we know some of you may prefer to set up babysitters during some of the child-friendly events in order to fully relax and enjoy yourselves. We will receive trusted babysitter names and contacts from our wedding planners soon and will share these contacts here so you can set up your schedule to ensure a long weekend of relaxation and fun for everyone.
Saturday Evening Wedding Celebration-We will have a couple of babysitters hired on-site at Quinta da Bella Vista to care for children 2 and under. We know some moms are still nursing and will not be able to be apart from their little ones for too long. Therefore, we will arrange someone to watch your children (2 and under) on-site so you can pop in and nurse in between chats, treats, and dancing!
Families with children over the age of 2 will need to organize childcare for the Saturday event. Buses will be leaving from Lisbon around 4:30pm and returning at various times anywhere from 12-3:30am. We are happy to support you in setting this up if needed! The above family hotel could be a convenient option or you can directly contact the recommended babysitters that we receive from our wedding planners.
