Best Man Dear Michael, Would we have been considered brothers though blood and related aptitude failed us? Would you have been called “My Brad” still if there weren’t any genetic relations? Yes, because tender love, care, and support have never left the arms you held me with since childhood and to date. How I wish I could recall how I learnt to pronounce your name when I was a toddler.&nbsp; All I mean is that, though people may see our faces and say we’re brothers, the bond and tie we’ve got is more than what can be seen on our faces. We've known each other since we were kids in the Adventist church in the Ahinsan district of the South Central Ghana Conference of SDA. Our adventure club and Pathfinder days were a lot of fun thanks to the love and unity we shared at our church events and gatherings. Mike's humility and dedication to his church activities gained him numerous positions at our Youth Camp meetings, as well as various leadership roles in the local church and district as a whole. Even though the world appears to be vast, we both ended up on another continent, in the same country and in the same city, only a few miles away. We were both in China, attending different institutions, but our friendship, which began in childhood, grew deeper. OUR FRIENDSHIP STORY It all began most unexpectedly. My cousin, who was Nana Akua's school daughter in high school, unknowingly set the foundation for a friendship that would stand the test of time. She often spoke to Nana about her family, and somehow, I became part of those conversations. I had always wanted a friend beyond the walls of my school, and thanks to my cousin, that wish quietly came true. One sunny afternoon in December 2014, I was lounging in the living room, comfortably nestled in the armchair, battling the usual drowsiness from (Domso). Suddenly, my phone rang. The voice on the other end asked if I could text, and I promptly replied with a firm, "No." That sparked laughter, and we introduced ourselves. Our first conversation lasted ten minutes, a brief yet meaningful exchange. A week later, Nana called again, this time to say goodbye before heading back to school for her mock exams. Months passed, and in 2015, as we both neared the completion of high school, I reached out to her. From then on, our friendship blossomed. Though we had never met in person, we talked every day, sharing stories, dreams, and everyday experiences. The bond grew stronger with each conversation. Finally, in 2016, we decided it was time to meet. When we did, it felt as if we had known each other forever. That same year, I attended a one-week program at a friend's church in Taifa Burkina. I mentioned this to Nana Akua, and she was thrilled at the chance to see me again. This time, her mother was aware of our friendship and wanted to meet me. Nana came to pick me up, and I met her warm and welcoming mother. She kindly offered me food and even tried to give me money for transportation. I pondered how to politely decline without seeming ungrateful. Before I could speak, Nana interrupted with a chuckle, saying, "Maa! Kwaku der omper saa oh." At that moment, I realized that Nana Akua saw me for who I truly was—not defined by my disability but by my abilities. Her belief in me was unwavering, and that meant everything. Now, as December approaches, we celebrate eleven years of friendship. Nana, you are kind, a great listener, a counselor, thoughtful, and selfless. Knowing you has been one of the greatest blessings in my life. I would never trade your friendship for all the gold in the world. Hi everyone present, you have no idea how excited I am For this wedding and also the opportunity given me to share details about how Mrs Osei-Boateng and I met as friends and a few things about her too. I was in school when I was having a conversation with my daddy, Elder Kankam Dankwah, and he told me he wanted me to be friends with someone. He showed me who she was, and it was Nana Akua. I&nbsp;vacated and came home, came to the church, but was too shy to talk to her.&nbsp;Fast forward: we attended a single's dinner; that was just like a year ago, and we were asked to write compliments to our crushes or anyone who we&nbsp;admire. So I wrote a note to her, and we spoke afterwards. Then I told her I would text her later in the evening, and she asked me how, but I told&nbsp;her&nbsp;not to worry. So yeah, I texted her, and that was how our friendship began. Nana Akua is sweet; she's kind. A few months after we met, she asked me what I wanted for my 20th&nbsp;birthday.I told her anything was fine, and the gift she got me was mind-blowing. She's supportive, caring, very appreciative, and very very humble and considerate. Nana Akua will never watch my status without liking and commenting on my pictures and telling me I'm beautiful. Nana Akua makes me know the feeling of having a big sister.&nbsp;When we meet in person, we don't talk much. I guess it's because she's a reserved person,&nbsp;and I'm a shy type sometimes 😂. I (Michael) reached out on Facebook, drawn to Ohemaa’s warmth and charm, and couldn’t help but let her know my heart was already all in—I just needed her to consider giving it a chance. Though cautious, Ohemaa eventually said “yes,” and with that, a beautiful friendship took root and blossomed into something even deeper. Life took us on different paths for a while, but fate, as they say, had its plans. Despite years apart, we reconnected, picking up right where we left off. For five years, ours was a love that thrived online. Though we rarely saw each other in person, we learned to trust in our love through messages, calls, and late-night conversations. Our love story has been a journey, and we’ll be the first to tell you it wasn’t always easy, but every moment apart made this moment worth it.
