We're getting married in a small ceremony on Orcas Island with our two immediate families.

Our Story Lucas Boyle was born and raised in Seattle, Washington. Growing up, Lucas loved sports … playing, watching, coaching, sports. After graduating from Seattle University, he began work with many nonprofits across town. Michaela Gianotti was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. Growing up, she loved things that weren’t sports, like theater, piano and baking. After graduating from Whitman College, she moved to Seattle on a whim. We first met in September 2012, just a few days after Michaela moved to Seattle. We had both joined the “Team Thursday” volunteer crew at 826 Seattle, a non-profit writing center for children and teens. Upon discovering that we both lived in the Capitol Hill neighborhood, we began to carpool together … and quickly became good friends. By December 2012, we were dating. We dated for a long time. And after nine years, two apartments, a few jobs lost and gained, two nephews, many trips, countless board games, one beat-up Nissan Sentra, a global pandemic, and our first house … we finally decided to “say yes.” We feel so lucky to have found one another years ago and are excited to start this next stage of our lives. Vaccinations RequiredIn order to protect our loved ones (we love you!), we are requiring up-to-date Covid-19 vaccinations for everyone old enough to receive one at our celebration event. If you are not vaccinated, we kindly ask that you celebrate with us another time. VentilationOur venue is a large brewery warehouse with a tall garage door that will be open for extra airflow. There will be a small outdoor space as well for those who prefer to be outside! MasksAt this time, we are not planning to require masks. However, the only thing we really know is that we don't know anything ... so depending on community transmission levels at the time of the celebration, this may change! Day of EventDepending on the level of community transmission at the time of our event, we may ask all guests to complete a rapid-test prior to attendance. If you are feeling sick at all, we kindly ask you to skip out on the party (and we'll party with you again soon!)

Here are some of our favorite things to do in town. OUTDOORSGo for a hike in Discovery Park. We recommend parking at the south entrance and hiking down to the light house. You'll pass through a meadow surrounded by Naval Officer quarters and catch amazing views of the Puget Sound and Olympic Mountains. Note: the trail down to the beach is steep! Visit Lucas' favorite beach at Shilshole Marina / Golden Gardens park in Ballard. Stop by Paseo for a sandwich too! Walk the loop at Seward Park. This paved and flat trail has lovely views of Lake Washington and Mr. Rainier on a clear day. Visit the Ballard Locks to watch boat, foot, and bike traffic navigate crossing the ship canal. It's fun for kids and engineers alike. Walk onto the Bainbridge ferry for lunch or ice cream on the island. The best $8 boat ride around, with beautiful water and city views. Visit the Olympic Sculpture Park on the waterfront for beautiful views, cool statues, and a lovely paved (and flat!) walk along Elliott Bay. Picnic at Gasworks Park. This spot earns the hype with one of the best views of the city. On a sunny day, there's nothing like it! Plus, like, that paintball scene from 10 Things I Hate About You was filmed there so wHaT eLsE dO yOu NeEd To KnOw? INDOORS Visit the Nordic Museum in Ballard to dig into this region's Scandinavian scene. Uff da. Visit the Frye Art Museum on First Hill. It's free, it's small, and it's a Seattle gem. Visit the Central Library downtown. It's a trip. Go beer tasting in Ballard's Brewery District. Breweries! Everywhere! Very Seattle! Very Beer! This is where our party will be ... Go up the Space Needle if you must. Get lost in Elliott Bay Books on Capitol Hill. Go shopping in Old Town Ballard.
