Our Story

Lucas Boyle was born and raised in Seattle, Washington. Growing up, Lucas loved sports … playing, watching, coaching, sports. After graduating from Seattle University, he began work with many nonprofits across town.

Michaela Gianotti was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. Growing up, she loved things that weren’t sports, like theater, piano and baking. After graduating from Whitman College, she moved to Seattle on a whim.

We first met in September 2012, just a few days after Michaela moved to Seattle. We had both joined the “Team Thursday” volunteer crew at 826 Seattle, a non-profit writing center for children and teens. Upon discovering that we both lived in the Capitol Hill neighborhood, we began to carpool together … and quickly became good friends.

By December 2012, we were dating. We dated for a long time. And after nine years, two apartments, a few jobs lost and gained, two nephews, many trips, countless board games, one beat-up Nissan Sentra, a global pandemic, and our first house … we finally decided to “say yes.”

We feel so lucky to have found one another years ago and are excited to start this next stage of our lives. We’re thankful for all the well wishes we’ve received from our friends and family and cannot wait to celebrate with you!
