Our Wedding

It all started at Chuggers bar and grille. Joe was a line cook and it was Mikalas first day as a server. As soon as Joe saw Mikala walk in, he had to know more about her. The two started talking as friends, and Joe was really there to pick Mikala up during some rough times. One night standing outside of the English pub, Joe asked her if it would be ok for him to kiss her. Mikala shy but delighted said she would love that. A couple weeks later Joe asked Mikala to be his date to a Halloween party, they dressed spooky, laughed a bunch, and did the monster mash all night long. Joe and Mikala got off to a fast start, only a few months in and Mikala knew she was in love. Driving home from work one night together, a song she never heard came on, 500 miles by the Proclaimers. Out of no where she heard Joe belt out in joy Da-da da da (Da-da da da)! his crazy dancing and wild singing made shy Mikala want to join right in. She was in awe with the fact that Joe was never afraid to be himself no matter how he looked. It was on this night Mikala told Joe that she thinks she is in love with him and Joe felt the same way for her. After that came years of a beautiful life together. Yes they hit some bumps in the road but through love and dedication they always came out stronger. Mikala has gained a beautiful stepdaughter, Tori. Joe has gained a awesome nephew, Aren, whom they help to raise. And Together they made their wonderfully spirited daughter, Nirvana. They have enjoyed trips to beautiful places, have rocked out at more concerts then they can count, and have been each others support systems through every happy and sad moment. Its been 10 years... we think its about time !

Kala and Ellie have been partners in crime since freshman year of high school. These two have been inseparable since day one, not even the distance with Ellie moving all the way to Texas has gotten between that. They went through all the firsts together and were there throughout all of life’s ups and downs. Blood couldn’t make these two closer. They will always be “sissy’s” at heart.

Ellie (AKA Sis) Kant

Kala and Mindi met in school. They had a lot of mutual friends they hung out with but as they got older their friendship started to grow. Over the years Mindi has gained a friendship with Joe as well. She was Nirvanas nanny for years and their  kids have been growing up together. They may not talk everyday like they used to but both Mikala and Joe know Mindi would be right there if  they needed her.

Sami was born on Mikala’s 5th birthday. Mikala says “Sami Jo is the best gift I have ever been given, my own tiny best friend”. They went from sharing bunk beds as kids to them being each other’s bridesmaids at their weddings just a year apart. These two will forever share a special bond that could never be broken. Mikala is very close with all her siblings and their children, Sami will be standing by her representing them as well.

Dave has been Joes best friend since middle school. These two have done more crazy stuff than most people could imagine. They have a history of deciding on a last minute adventure and taking off at midnight to places like New York, Michigan and South Carolina. Sure Dave and Joe may have had times when life pulled them in different directions but it’s always like they never missed a beat when they see each other again. Dave will always be like a brother and his son, a nephew. Over the years Mikala and the rest of the family have grown close with Dave and his family as well, creating so many great memories together. 

David McLean

Jimbob, as Joe likes to call him, is like a brother. They enjoy going to Indians games together, traveling up north every now and again, and just hanging out. Joe wouldn’t want anyone else in his wedding party than Jimmy. He is happy to have someone like Jimbob stick by his side. Joe says “Jimmy has helped me in ways he will never know”

Jimmy Miller 

Joe met Spencer around 9 years ago working at MadJacks. Joe thought for a while Spencer was older due to his old soul but to his surprise Spencer was a young pup of 16. Fast forward to now, Spencer is Joes barber and neighbor so he gets to see him all the time. Over the years they had some close basketball games and some not so close golf matches (Spencer winning always). Mikala and Joe both say how proud they are of the young man Spency has become. Joe loves hanging out with Spencer and is happy he is a part of the big day.

Friday 8/8:-Float the river @ 1pm, everyone can meet in front of the camp office around 12:30pm, camp charges $16 per person to rent a river float and be given a ride up river (fyi- if you want you can bring your own float but the campground is still going to charge full price for the ride up river. If you are checking in Friday and your site wont be ready until later in the afternoon- that is ok, you can still park at camp and do the river float early. IMPORTANT--- if you plan on floating the river Friday, please shoot Joe (330-389-1590) or Mikala (330--937-7346) a quick text- we will need to provide the campground of a headcount at least a week before so they can prepare. -Rehearsal dinner/ cookout @ 5pm, all guests that are staying Friday night are welcome to join us (this is not just for the wedding party- we will sneak off an rehearse after or before dinner- this is for anyone who is around and hungry or just wanting to hang out) , it will be cookout style. Feel free to bring a pack of meat(buns) to throw on the grill, a side or dessert to share if you'd like. We will be playing a movie for the kiddos and having a fire as well. DONT FOREGT TO BRING A CAMPING CHAIR. Saturday 8/9:-wedding day= best day EVER ! Sunday 8/10:-Goodbyes and breakfast @ (around)_ 10am in the Pavilion P.S. The Bride and Groom will be arriving Thursday afternoon and leaving Sunday afternoon. Please feel free to contact one of us if you'd like to be in the loop on whatever we are doing Thursday. If you are visiting our site on any of the days you can stop by the camps front desk and they will point you in the right direction. Please remember cell service is very spotty at camp. We love Mohican, and hope to share that love with you. There are a number of things to do in the area. Hiking, fishing, river activities, horseback riding, in air obstacle courses, that's just to name a few. Just lookup things to do in the area or reach out to us for ideas. Go explore, adventure awaits !
