The NC Museum of Natural Sciences is the largest institution of its kind in the South East and one of the nation's most amazing museums about the natural world. Although not downtown, NCMA is a great place to spend a morning or afternoon as the sprawling grounds include various art installations as well as a park with sculptures adorning the walkways. To get to NCMA, hop on Wade Avenue heading toward Durham, take the Blue Ridge Road exit and turn right.

The Raleigh Times Bar is a timeless local watering hole and so much more.
