Sarah was 15 years old, and Morgan was 17 turning 18 that fall. Sarah was involved in a Logansport Civic Theatre production of Hello, Dolly! and had become friends with this senior boy named Izzy Harding, who was one of the main techies for the show. One night while rehearsing at McHale Performing Arts Center, Izzy's best friend Morgan popped by to pick up an amp for band practice. It was a,
- "Morgan, this is Sarah. Sarah, this is Morgan."
- "Hey."
- "Hey."
situation. He paid no attention to her at all. He had a girlfriend at the time, and she was hanging out with Izzy so why would he? She thought he was cute though. So what is a girl to do? She finds him on Facebook and boldly "friends" him.
After befriending one another on Facebook, their lives went on. Sarah finished high school and moved to Bloomington to go to Indiana University. Morgan moved to Chicago to go to Columbia College Chicago for film, then started working in the film industry in the city. After Sarah finally graduated from college, she got a job in Chicago working with her Camp Eberhart pal, Alex Seminary.
9 years go by since adding this cute boy on Facebook. It is now the year 2014, Morgan and his pals had just made a film together called Kiss Like Big Dogs, and it was being shown every Friday evening in the month of February at the Chicago Filmmakers Theatre. To encourage more people to attend their viewing, Morgan sent a mass invite to all his FB friends in the Chicagoland area. *ding - notification* She checked to see who was messaging her and saw the name:
She still remembers what his profile pictures looked like. He no longer has a Facebook profile, but before they ever started dating, his FB profile pictures are all she had to get to know him. She decided he's still cute and seems like fun, based on his pics, so she took that mass invite as a personal invitation to get herself a date with this guy and sent him a direct message.
- "So, I see you have this showing tonight. Shall we go together?
- "Uhhh...yeah! I'm meeting some friends beforehand for dinner. Would you like to accompany me to that as well? When do you get off work?"
- "Pick me up at 6:00!"
Morgan pulled up to her apartment and called her. According to Sarah, when she answered the phone, the deepest, rumbliest, manliest, sexiest voice she's ever heard said, "Hey, I'm outside." She went weak at the knees and her heart started to flutter around in her chest!
According to Morgan, when Sarah walked across the street to get into the passenger's side door, she was walking in slow motion and the song "There Goes My Baby" by the Drifters started playing in his head. The night was shaping up to be magical, and it was!
They went to dinner and split a Reuben sandwich. (They've been splitting their dinners ever since!) Sarah was introduced to his friends, Dakota, Chris, Robbie, and many more, and they made their way to the theatre to watch Kiss Like Big Dogs. Sarah sat next to Morgan in the theatre, their arms touching, and Sarah's whole body was tingly. She kept trying to sneak peeks at his cute face without being too obvious. He and his friends were sharing inside jokes and clever quips throughout the movie and her heart continued to flutter. "This seemingly charming and handsome guy is so popular with his friends!" After the movie, Dakota put a 30 rack of PBR on his shoulder and announced to everyone to follow him to the after party! Morgan and Sarah hung out all night, laughing and flirting. By the end of the night, he was looking at her with those
eyes and she melted into a puddle and her heart exploded into a thousand pieces.
They spent the whole next day together. And the next day. And then Sarah went to work on Monday and they texted each other all day. Then on Tuesday, Morgan asked her out on a date for Wednesday night. They went to the Green Mill on Wednesday for some live music and he nervously asked her to be his girlfriend. She immediately said yes, and they've been falling in love since then.
