Why Ireland?

Picture of Why Ireland?
From the moment we began driving down the opposite site of its winding roads and many roundabouts, we were captivated by how spectacular everything was. The countryside, the farm houses, the small towns, castle ruins, and miles and miles of stone walls took our breath away. We were greeted by the most friendly people we had ever met. People that were genuinely happy to see us although they had never met us before. Dogs greeting us at our door in the morning, fresh eggs and homemade bread at our b&b, the thousands of cows grazing along the roadside. The simplest things were truly amazing. We had visited the oldest pub in Ireland for a Guinness and watched a band play in the corner of a bar from the 1100’s. They sang folk songs and played the fiddle and Irish spoons. This would be an experience we would never forget. We ended our trip at the Cliff’s of Moher and the entire visit we could not stop soaking in how spectacular an experience it was. Massive cliff’s overlooking the Atlantic Ocean with the cows among us grazing on the greenest grass we had ever seen and a rainbow in the distance. It was truly a magical experience from beginning to end and we knew we would always come back. We thought of Ireland every day once returning home, and after some searching we came up with the idea of bringing our closest loved ones to the place we loved most to share our experience with them. This is what we dreamed of. Giving our guests the opportunity to marvel at all the beauty and create a true experience while celebrating a tremendous milestone in our lives. We always want to appreciate the simple things in our lives and embrace whatever weather it brings, and Ireland for us symbolizes all of those things.

Our Engagement

On our trip to Germany in September 2023, he traveled all the way across the ocean to Europe with a ring in his backpack. Through TSA and unpacking in hotel rooms I had absolutely no clue what was to come.

We headed out our first full day dressed in our lederhosen and dirndl and headed to Oktoberfest. We were met outside our hotel by a group of fellow American’s looking for directions on their GPS. We invited them to follow us and ended sharing our first liter of beer together. On the way to our second beer tent, Mateo asked one of the guys in the group to take a photo. Moments before he had mentioned to him that he was going to propose and the guys said “alright, let’s do it!” In front of the Hoffbrau horses, he got on one knee and I was in shock. I kept repeating “I don’t even know what’s going on!” In front of hundreds of people from all over the world there was ring on my finger and we were over the moon excited. People were congratulating us in all different languages. There was a couple who approached us to congratulate us and said that they were here visiting celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary in the same spot they got engaged 30 years ago! It was truly a story we will never forget and the craziest experience.

Our Home

Everyone knows how special our two boys Fergie and Albie are to us, so we had to include them in our family picture on our front steps the day we closed on our home. The closing was just days after returning from our whirlwind trip and everything we have waited for seemed to be happening all at once! We were so grateful to finally be home owners and keep creating memories together (and with our fur babies).

The Beginning in Alberta, Canada

We had only been dating for 8 months before taking our first trip together all the way to the west coast in a different country. It was so special for us we even named our little guy Albie (short for Albert) after Alberta. It was during this trip where we knew we would always travel together and prioritize experiences over material things when celebrating birthdays and anniversaries. You cannot put a price on experiences and this started our love for exploring new places and creating new memories. Fun fact, we loved Canada so much that we visited 3 times in a year and a half after our first visit. It will always hold a special place in our hearts.
