Red Rocks is one of the most iconic amphitheaters in the world, and it's free!
It is near the vicinity of the venue and has plenty of hiking trails and accessible parking spots. The Red Rocks climb can be tiring, so bring water and plan ahead for high altitude.
Want to squeeze in a round in the Rocky Mountains? Evergreen Golf Course is a beautiful course with Evergreen Lake in the background. Plus, you should be able to see some great fall colors.
Book in advance as it is popular.
In September, weather permitting, Evergreen Lake offers paddleboarding, boating, and yoga.
Ideally, fall colors should be at their peak the weekend of the wedding. Pleaseeeee take some time to drive along I-70 and take in the best part about Colorado.
Some fairly easy and accessible passes in the area include, Guanella Pass (outside Georgetown). This link shows the full length and estimated time to drive the whole pass: https://www.codot.gov/travel/colorado-byways/north-central/guanella-pass
Kenosha Pass is another popular route off of US 285 which is the southern highway from Golden. https://dayhikesneardenver.com/kenosha-pass-hike/
These passes are mountain roads and may have steep curves, narrow lanes and drop-offs.
Here is my local Colorado spiel:
The passes will be very busy with fellow leaf peepers, please only park where allowed, stay on the path and leave no trace. We recommend going as early as possible, as the passes will be unbearable after noon.
There are lots of small trails and full on hikes in this area, and they are perfect for leaf peeping.
Feel free to explore the area. We recommend using the AllTrails map for maps, information on difficulty and daily reviews from fellow hikers to plan for your adventure. Bring lots of water, wear sunscreen and bring spare clothes for weather.
Georgetown is the cutest little mountain town. From authentic candy shops to antique stores to mining history. It is the next major town past Idaho Springs.
It also has the Georgetown Railroad which is a beloved train ride through the mountains. Book way in advance, it is suppperrr popular.
