How do we get to the venue?

We suggest taking Uber, Lyft, or a cab. Parking at the venue is very limited. There is basically street parking only. It is on a busy downtown street and it is too far to walk from the hotel.

Are there other events that weekend?

There are no formal plans, but Tim and Nancy will be staying at the hotel and will be around that weekend to visit with out of town guests who may be staying there.

What food is on the menu?

It is a buffet dinner; there will be barbecued chicken from our favorite restaurant, Henry's Hi Life; various salads, side dishes, and desserts. On your RSVP, please indicate any food allergies.

Are there other hotel options?

The hotel we recommended is downtown and centrally located, but if you are interested in staying in other areas or other hotels, we can certainly make recommendations, just let us know.

Is this a kid-friendly event?

It’s up to you! While the event is more formal and held at a historic venue, our grandchildren will be there, and kids typically enjoy the dancing. However, please note that the event is primarily geared toward adults. There won’t be a designated outdoor area, a kids’ menu, or specific activities for children.

I'm flying from out of town- do I need to rent a car?

It depends on what you want to do while in San Jose. The hotel is 5 minutes from the airport, and Uber or Lyft are easily available. Several restaurants are within walking distance of the hotel, and even onsite at the hotel. If you plan to stay downtown, Lyft and Uber make it very easy and a car would not be needed. If you plan to do more than than visit downtown San Jose, while Lyft and Uber is still readily available, San Jose is a large city that is spread out over many miles. Plus there are MANY amazing day trips and other things to do outside of downtown, in which case a car would be more useful.

In addition to the Things to Do in San Jose that were listed, what day trips could we do while visiting San Jose?

The opportunities are endless, with gorgeous oceanside cities an hour or less away.

~Santa Cruz is about 45 minutes away, with endless opportunities from the seaside Beach Boardwalk, to whale watching, to dinner on the wharf.

~San Francisco is about an hour away and is a whole trip in of itself! If just going for the day, seeing the Golden Gate Bridge, visiting Fisherman's Wharf and Pier 39 are always fun, but there is so much to see and do there!

~The beautiful seaside city of Monterey is about an hour away, where you can visit the famous Monterey Bay Aquarium, check out Cannery Row, or just admire the stunning landscape.

~Carmel-by-the-Sea, just past Monterey, is a charming seaside village with shops, restaurants, and remarkable architecture. Keep an eye out for celebrities.

~In neighboring cities here in Silicon Valley, you can see the world famous tech campuses that we are famous for. Google Headquarters in Mountain View has a visitor experience and cafe. The Apple Campus in Cupertino is a sight to behold, and you can visit the Apple Park Visitor Center.
