FLYING INTO EDINBURGH
The most convenient airport to fly into is Edinburgh Airport (EDI). The airport is just outside of the Edinburgh and depending on the mode of transportation, it will take between 20 - 35 minutes.
There are several airports that fly direct including: New York (Newark & JFK), Chicago, Orlando, DC (Dulles), Boston, and Atlanta. Most connecting flights will be through London or Dublin.
TRANSPORTATION FROM EDINBURGH AIRPORT TO CITY
Options include:
- Taxi or private car
- Bus
- Tram
- Rideshare
- Car Rentals
We do NOT recommend a car rental unless you plan on visiting parts of Scotland outside of Edinburgh. And note that you can pick up rental cars closer to city center if you plan to travel after the wedding festivities.
Edinburgh is a walkable city and it is very difficult to drive (as well as park) within city center.
FLYING INTO LONDON
For those visiting from abroad, consider flying into London and either: 1) taking a short flight to Edinburgh or 2) the train.
Flights are typically more reasonable from the US to London than directly to Edinburgh.
The high-speed train from London to Edinburgh takes about 4.5 hours and a direct flight takes a little over 1 hour. If you take the train, the closest station will be Edinburgh Waverley train station.
