EXPLORE ANDALUCIA

Tucked away in complete tranquility away from the hustle and bustle of nearby towns, our chosen wedding venue is surrounded by the gorgeous scenery of Southern Spain. You'll be surprised to find out it's just a few hours drive (or coach ride) away from some of the most stunning destinations in Andalucia.


If you plan to stay on a little longer, we've compiled a list of some incredible spots below that we think are worth exploring. We highly recommend renting a car and hitting the road because the scenic drives are an experience within themselves. The views along the way, especially as you head towards Marbella and Granada, are absolutely breathtaking!


However, If you prefer to stay local then we suggest exploring areas such as Cadiz for its stunning beaches and historical charm, Jerez for its wine and sherry or Seville for its incredible architecture and array of delicious tapas restaurants.

ARCOS DE LA FRONTERA

Located just 15 minutes from the wedding venue, Arcos de la Frontera is a picturesque town perched atop a cliff in Andalusia, Spain that can be explored on a day trip. Its dramatic whitewashed houses, narrow streets, and historic ambiance make it a quintessential example of traditional Spanish architecture and it is often considered to be one of the most beautiful towns in Spain.


With its ancient churches and charming plazas, it offers visitors a glimpse into the region's rich history and culture. If you're looking for a taste of old-world charm, Arcos de la Frontera is the place to be.

JEREZ

A 15 minute drive from the Barcelo Hotels, Jerez de la Frontera, often referred to simply as Jerez, is renowned for three distinct attractions: sherry, horses, and flamenco.


The city exudes an air of sophistication and boasts a rich cultural heritage. 1 -2 days should be enough for visitors to indulge in the finest sherry at renowned bodegas, witness mesmerising flamenco performances, and admire the elegance of Andalusian horses. In fact from the 31st August - 15th September, Jerez will be celebrating their annual grape harvest festival which includes things like grape treading, wine mixing and horse shows so it's definitely worth checking out!


The historic old town is adorned with a plethora of architectural gems, adding to Jerez's allure and charm. Whether you're drawn to its culinary delights, equestrian traditions, or cultural offerings, Jerez promises an unforgettable experience steeped in Andalusian culture.

SEVILLE

Located around 1 hr 30 minutes from the wedding venue, we'd recommend spending 2-3 days in Seville, the capital of Andalusia. It is a city steeped in history and culture. Renowned for its architectural splendor, it boasts landmarks such as the Alcázar Palace, an exquisite example of Mudéjar architecture, Plaza de España and the Seville Cathedral, one of the largest Gothic cathedrals in the world, featuring the iconic Giralda tower.


The city is also a hub for the arts, particularly known for its contributions to flamenco music and dance.


Gastronomy is another highlight, with a variety of tapas bars offering local specialties. Make sure to try the local specialties like gazpacho, fried fish, and jamón ibérico! The city's orange tree-lined streets, riverside promenades, and bustling plazas create an atmosphere which is lively and inviting.


Seville's blend of cultural heritage, artistic expression, and culinary delights make it a compelling destination for any traveler.

CADIZ

About a one hour drive from the wedding venue and about 35 minutes drive from Barcelo hotels, Cádiz is an enchanting holiday destination with a perfect blend of history and pristine beaches. As the oldest city in Europe, Cádiz offers a unique opportunity to explore its charming streets steeped in centuries of heritage with its ancient Roman ruins, grand cathedrals, and picturesque plazas,


It is a favoured holiday spot for Spanish locals. Many travellers are drawn to Cádiz for its authentic Spanish atmosphere. The city's rich history, vibrant culture, and local traditions remain largely untouched by mass tourism, allowing visitors to experience a more authentic side of Spain.


When it comes to beaches, Cádiz doesn't disappoint. From the sun-kissed shores of Playa de la Victoria, perfect for sunbathing and surfing, to the tranquil ambiance of La Caleta Beach, nestled between ancient castles, each offers a distinct coastal experience.


Whether you're seeking relaxation, cultural exploration, or gastronomic seafood delights, Cádiz promises an unforgettable holiday experience for all who venture there.

MALAGA

Around a 2 hr 30 min drive from Seville and Arcos de la Frontera and nestled in the heart of the Costa del Sol, Malaga is a vibrant coastal city that embodies the essence of a dream holiday. Its sun-drenched beaches, rich cultural heritage, and lively atmosphere cater to every traveler's desires.


Malaga boasts stunning beaches, from the bustling shores of La Malagueta to the secluded coves of Pedregalejo, offering opportunities for sunbathing, swimming, and water sports like paddleboarding and jet skiing.


Steeped in history and culture, Malaga's historic center features charming streets, cafes, and landmarks like the iconic Alcazaba fortress and the grand Malaga Cathedral, showcasing Renaissance architecture.

Its beautiful beaches cater to every taste, whether you're into exclusive spots like Puerto Banús or laid-back vibes at Playa de la Fontanilla.


In the charming Old Town, explore narrow streets and cozy plazas, or check out historic sites like Castillo de Marbella and the Bonsai Museum.


At night, the city lights up with beach clubs, bars, and clubs for all tastes. And don't miss out on the incredible dining scene, from tapas bars to Michelin-starred restaurants. In Marbella, you'll find relaxation, adventure, and a taste of the good life all rolled into one unforgettable destination.

GRANADA

Just under a 3 hour drive from Seville and Arcos de la Frontera and about an hour and a half from Malaga, Granada is a personal favourite and is probably our number one recommendation! From the majestic mountains to the alleys of the old Moorish district, cave dwellings and the many Christian monuments, Granada really is a extraordinarily varied and breathtaking city.


Nestled in the heart of Spain and located at the foot of the Sierra Nevada mountains (some of the most spectacular in Spain and the whole of Europe!), its rich history, including the iconic Alhambra Palace and the charming Albaicín neighborhood, are must-sees,


Despite not being directly on the coast, Granada is within easy reach of some of Spain's most stunning beaches. Whether you prefer the golden sands of the Costa Tropical or the lively atmosphere of the Costa del Sol, a short drive will take you there.


It's also a foodie's paradise, with a vibrant culinary scene that caters to all tastes and buzzing nightlife, offering everything from trendy rooftop bars to historic cave clubs.


Whether you're craving history, relaxation, or a taste of Spanish culture, Granada has it all.

OTHER PLACES TO VISIT

Other potential places to visit within a 1-3 hour drive include: Gibraltar, Ronda, Estepona and Cordoba.
