Flights and Transport

FLIGHTS

NEAREST AIRPORTS

If you are not renting a car, we recommend that most of our guests fly into Seville or Jerez airport. We recommend comparing flight prices through the Skyscanner website (or app), google flights or through airlines directly. It's likely that there may be more flights released throughout the year.

The closest airports are:

JEREZ (XRY)

(15-20 mins to Barcelo Montecastillo hotel/40 mins from wedding venue/32 mins from Meson de la Molinera)

The flight duration is about 2 hrs 55 mins. Currently, there are very limited flights into Jerez, there is one Ryanair flight from London Stansted at 6.10am on Thursday 5th September and one Tui flight at 6.10am on Friday 6th September (although this one is quite expensive).

SEVILLE (SVQ) Recommended

(1 hr from Barcelo Montecastillo/1 hr 30 from wedding venue/1 hr 20 from Meson de la Molinera)

Most direct flights are from Gatwick or Stansted and currently there are no direct flights from Heathrow. The flight duration is around 2 hrs 45 mins.

MALAGA (AGP)

(2 hr 10 mins from Barcelo Montecastillo/2 hr 30 from wedding venue/2 hr 20 from Meson de la Molinera).

There are direct flights from Heathrow and Birmingham as well as Gatwick, Stansted and Luton.

GIBRALTAR (GIB)

(1 hr 20 from Barcelo Montecastillo/1 hr 45 mins from wedding venue/1 hr 40 mins from Meson de la Molinera)

There are direct flights from Heathrow and Gatwick.

Please note that as Gibraltar is a British overseas territory, you will have to cross the border into Spain and there may be certain entry requirements. Please refer to the government website below for more information.

TRAVEL SAVING TIP

When booking flights and adding on luggage on most airline websites, go with the basic/standard option which only includes a small under seat bag and doesn't include any luggage. Skip all the options to add luggage and then add your luggage at the very end before you complete the booking.

The recommended or essentials option they present you with right at the very beginning is usually more expensive as it usually includes priority boarding and particular seats which are not needed.

AIRPORT TRANSFERS

TAXIS

Taxi transfers from Seville airport to the recommended hotels and the wedding venue are very expensive and you can expect to pay anything between €120 - €180, therefore we highly recommend one of the other transfer options below. If your only option is to take a taxi then later on we will add some more information here of some taxi companies you can organise your transfers with.

CAR RENTAL

If you are comfortable driving on the other side of the road then we highly recommend renting a car as it is relatively cheap in Spain, sometimes being as little as €8 for two days or €40 for a whole week.

The roads are scenic and quiet and it's the best way to make the most of your time in your Spain.

Currently prices for car rental are around €40 for two days in September but we expect that these costs will fluctuate throughout the year so please keep an eye on them. We have previously used the below website to book car rental and had no issues (we used Gold Car and OK Mobility but there are various options available).

SHARED TRANSPORT

We understand that taxis are very expensive and therefore want to make things as affordable and convenient as possible for our guests.

Once you've booked your flights please let us know as we may be able to help you organise transfers such as a shuttle with other guests on your flight in order to help share the costs. Depending on the amount of guests on each transfer you can maybe expect to pay between €10-€40 per person for a one way transfer to your hotel.

If you plan to rent a car and would be happy to carpool other guests going to the same hotel, we'd be so grateful if you could let us know so that we can organise this.

The shared shuttles will leave from Seville (likely from the airport) on Friday 6th September, so if you are arriving any earlier in the week and require transport to your hotel then please ensure you're in Seville on the Friday to take advantage of these arrangements.

In order to secure a space on a shared shuttle, we kindly ask you to have your flights booked no later than June 1st, if you have not booked your flight by June 1st then we may not be able to secure a place on the shared transfers for you as shuttle companies require as much notice as possible, due to limited availability.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT

If you are willing to take a longer route via public transport then you can catch a €4 bus from Seville Airport (or a taxi if you prefer) to Sevilla Santa Justa train station and from there take a train to Jerez de la Frontera. Prices for these trains range from about €11-€30 per person one way and as of July there are currently many trains available on Friday 6th September. Once in Jerez, you can take a taxi to Barcelo Montecastillo Golf which costs around €20-€25 from the airport. We recommend booking trains in advance to avoid disappointment.

If you are staying at or near the venue or at Meson de la Molinera, there may be trains or coaches available from Seville/Malaga to 'Arcos de la Frontera' which is the town closest to the wedding venue. There are currently two coaches operated by 'Damas' (https://damas-sa.es/) going down to Arcos de la Frontera on Friday 6th September, otherwise you may have to make your way from Jerez which is about half an hour away.

You can use Renfe or Omio to book trains: https://www.renfe.com/es/en

Please also have a look at some of the websites below to compare return travel from Malaga/Seville to Jerez

or if you plan to travel in from any other area of Spain. As of July there are quite a few coaches that have now been released that cover these routes.
