Kalalau Hike

This is one of the most beautiful, but challenging, hikes in the US. You can turn around at any time but most people do the two miles in/2 miles out. We’ve also done the 4.5 miles to the waterfall/4.5 miles out (takes most of the day)

Time requirements: usually 1-2 miles per hour. Hiking poles recommended. Lots of water and energy snacks absolutely required. Everyone must have a Haena State Park reservation. There’s also a beautiful beach at the start of the trailhead with excellent snorkeling if anyone doesn’t want to hike. (Included on the park reservation).
