🌴 We encourage you to spend at least a week and explore the gorgeous island of Kauai. It’s also rather far away, so a vacation planned well in advance is your best option for celebrating our special day with us while enjoying your time in Hawaii. We hope you make it a lifelong memory!
🌴 The time difference is 6 hours and the flight process is about 12 hours minimum with airport transfers. Come at least a few days early to adjust to the time difference so you can enjoy the reception and not fall asleep!
🌴 You’ll love it here if you like beautiful places! Please contact Anna’s mom, Joell Stuckey, at 260-416-8588 if you don’t find answers to plan your trip on this website. She loves to talk all things Kauai!
When do we need to make reservations for our stay?
ASAP! Book now for your best selection. June is high season and your stay options will be very limited if you wait too long.
Do we need a rental car?
Absolutely. There are very minimal and unreliable options other than your own car. (Minimal Uber rides, no taxis, minimal bus options). It is a small island with tiny towns lacking any city conveniences for transportation. Several local rental car companies are listed below in the travel section with links to their websites, as well as typical chain rental agencies from the airport.
What’s the best way to fly there?
Stopping in LA, Seattle, or Phoenix overnight helps break up the long flight. You can more easily use airline points for that shorter leg as well if you stop overnight. Flights from the West Coast are about 5 hours directly to Kauai. Stopping in Honolulu for a few days (Oahu island) and then taking the short flight over to Kauai in a small jet is also a good plan. Pearl Harbor is worth seeing while you are so far from home! All of the islands require a commercial jet for travel between them with the full airport experience. Some suggested airlines are listed in the travel section.
What is the weather like?
June is warm and Kauai always has wonderful tropical breezes. 78-84 degrees is typical. Summer is the dry season, though frequently, on the North Shore, there will be a short, light afternoon rain. Rain=waterfalls and rainbows! We hope you get to experience this because Kauai is high drama beauty!
Where’s the best place to stay?
Check out the travel section for some suggestions. The North shore (Princeville, Hanalei, Haena) has a dramatic backdrop of mountains and waterfalls. June will have calmer water on the Northern shores for swimming and snorkeling and Hanalei Bay has life guards. The South shore (Poipu/Koloa) will be rougher seas in June, and this side is always more hot and dry and not as mountainous and lush as the North. (But more shopping, resorts, and restaurants, etc). The East shore (Lihue/Kapaa) is a good half way point to see the whole island, and is the most affordable. You can’t go wrong anywhere on the island.
Do we need a place with AC?
It can be warm in June. Many places don’t have AC because there are usually trade winds. If AC is important to you, make sure to verify your accommodations have it.
When do we need to RSVP?
Formal invites will be sent closer to the wedding date, but due to the distance and planning involved, we wanted to give you plenty of time to coordinate an amazing adventure. Final numbers for the caterers, venue location, and seating chart are required 6 weeks in advance, so please RSVP during the time frame given on the formal invites which will arrive in the spring of 2025. We will ask for specific names and meal choices to ensure a wonderful experience.
