Our Wedding

Like most modern love stories, this one started over an online dating app way back in 2010. After some messages back and forth, Jamie eventually worked up the courage to invite Nigel around one long weekend to help him drink through what would be the first of many a case of beers.&nbsp; The boys obviously liked who they had met, and continued to catch up over the month to come before deciding to make it official on the night of Jamie's 30th birthday.&nbsp; Little did they know, like the Doctor and Clara, two characters from one of their favourite tv shows, the boys timelines were already intertwined, having already crossed paths one night when Nigel first moved to Canberra. Through thick and thin, those who have been along for the ride can attest, no matter what challenges life throws their way, the boys always display a passion and unbreakable bond for the other. They now look forward to their next chapter, celebrating Valentines Day by officiating their future in front of you.

Venue Map

For those wanting to attend the entire weekend and stay on site...

We have secured limited accommodation provided on the grounds of the venue in the form of 18x Glamping tents for our guests to stay on site.&nbsp;8 of the tents sleep up to 3 guests with the other 10 tents sleeping up to 4 so be sure to let the grooms know if you have an invited friend or family member who you would like to share.&nbsp; Please keep in mind that these are to be accommodated by those guests who will be looking to stay for the entire weekend (check in Friday, leave Monday). For those only able to attend the ceremony and reception, there is plenty of gorgeous accommodation nearby in Jervis Bay (see below for a selection of options). Due to limited space and the large number of guests, we’re unfortunately unable to allocate individual tents per person or couple. Glamping tents are furnished with a king size bed, table, two deck chairs and 1 or 2 single beds.&nbsp; All linen &amp; towels are provided, so no need to bring your own.&nbsp; The Glamping Tents have a communal bathroom with separate accessible showers and toilets.&nbsp; There are three shared fire-pits with log stools, outdoor chill out spaces with tables with chairs, gas and charcoal BBQs and a food truck converted into a camp kitchen with&nbsp;a shared refrigerator and all the kitchen utensils you would need for your stay. To book a spot in a glamping tent go to; <a href="https://www.trybooking.com/events/landing/1377234" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Nigel &amp; Jamie Tie The Knot: Glamping Accommodation Tickets, The Woods Farm, Tomerong | TryBooking Australia</a>

There is also a selection of cottages (8 in total) available on site. These will be allocated by the grooms to intermediate members of family and the wedding parties who will be advised of this allocation when their official invites have been posted out.

I can only attend the Wedding Day or missed out on securing a tent...

Outside of Air B n B's there is a lot of alternate accommodation options near by. What else can I do whilst in Tomerong...

Tomerong which is situated just a stones throw from Huskisson and Jervis Bay has a lot to offer. Enjoying a beer over lunch at the Huskisson Hotel or taking a walk along Hyams Beach are just two activities the boys like to do when in that neck of the woods. Official invitations are currently on their way via post. Kindly note that RSVPs and onsite accommodation bookings must be submitted&nbsp;no later than 30 September 2025 so we have enough time to update numbers with the venue.

Are kids welcome?

Whilst we would love for your children to celebrate with us, due to capacity limitations at the venue, we ask that the Friday and Saturday events be child free, adult only zones. Children are welcome to join us on the Sunday from 9am for recovery by the pool and animal feedings.

What is the dress code Friday night?

They say bad luck looms on Friday the 13th so what better night for our final hours as an unmarried couple. Before we lock it down for eternity, we invite you to join us lean into the spooky vibes for a delightfully dreadful welcome dinner.&nbsp; Come dressed to distress. Creepy costumes encouraged or at the very least summon your inner goth and wear black. Think haunted romance, not fashion police. We’d love for everyone to get into the spirit.

And what about the Wedding day?

Polished meets playful, garden cocktail it's a blend of elegance and outdoor charm. Picture cocktail dresses, dress shirts and smart shoes with garden party flair. Light fabrics, floral prints and effortless style perfect for mingling in the sun as well as under the stars.&nbsp; For further inspiration;&nbsp; <a href="https://au.pinterest.com/burto1980/garden-cocktail/?invite_code=58d6ee0110014a1ca28be9fef0376da1" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">6 Garden Cocktail ideas in 2025 | wedding attire guest, cocktail wedding attire, dress code wedding</a>

Is it okay to take pictures with our phones and cameras during the wedding?

We would love for you to take photos on the day and share them with us so we can revisit our day through your eyes. However we do ask that you let our photographer and videographer do their job during the ceremony and refrain from taking photos at that time to allow yourself to be present and join us in the moment. At the Cocktail Hour and into the night, we encourage you being snap happy. Make sure you track down the photo booth and update those photos you took at the Engagement party. For the photos you do take, please share them here so we can add them to our collection: <a href="https://photos.app.goo.gl/qChJHhfSuT9S1xzi7" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">https://photos.app.goo.gl/qChJHhfSuT9S1xzi7</a>

What is the parking situation like?

Please note that&nbsp;on-site parking will be limited. To help ease congestion and ensure everyone can arrive smoothly, we kindly encourage attendees to&nbsp;carpool wherever possible.

Is there a gift registry?

No, there wont be a registry. We realise that attendance will be costly with travel and accommodation and your presence is the only gifts we need. There will however be a box for well wishes on the day for those who wish to bring a card.&nbsp;

Q + A

If you have gotten this far into the website without knowing who these two are, you have probably come to the wrong place. You may know Nigel as Nige, Nigool, Niggle, Nudge, Nina, Nigella or Noddy. And you may know Jamie as Burto, Beetle, Bertie, Gay Dog, Gaymie or Squintin' Tarantino. But on this weekend you will know them as the grooms.

Nigel Lomas & Jamie Burton

Ralph, being food motivated, was promised our guests scraps if he helps out.

Miley just loves her dads and will stop at nothing to be around them at all times, even if that means she is constantly getting under their feet.

They are both very excited to be part of our special day!

Miley & Ralph Burton Lomas

From the very beginning of Jamie and Nigel’s relationship, Karoline has always played a significant role and has been a steady part of their journey. Over the years, she has lived with them and laughed with them, offering advice and unwavering support. Her presence through their milestones and continued care makes her the perfect person to stand beside them as their celebrant further shaping the life they have built together.

Karoline Dawe

When it came to choosing the perfect Mistress of Ceremony's Bianca Dean was the obvious choice. Her unapologetically inappropriate sense of humour and razor sharp wit made her the ideal candidate. With a CV that includes her unforgettable speech at her sister Renee’s wedding, Bianca brings both MC experience, history with the boys and a grand sense of flair to the mic. She’s been part of Jamie and Nigel’s lives for many years, sharing laughs, adventures and more than a few dance floors. Whether she’s wrangling the crowd or roasting the grooms with love, Bianca is guaranteed to keep the energy high, the smiles wide and the belly laughs loud.

Bianca Dean

Nigel and his brother Stuart have always had a close bond, strengthened by the fact they shared their father Paul's passion for all things planes and cars. This shared interest not only brought them closer to their father but also to each other. When thinking of his wedding party, Nigel knew straight away that his brother had to play a part.

Stuart Lomas

Whilst this Jamie and Nigel only became mates after Nigel moved to Canberra, they are often found taking their cars for a Sunday drive, watching the footy over a pub lunch or tinkering in the shed with beers in hand. One favourite tradition is the Sunday night "family" dinners held at the Williams home. These dinners are always a highlight of the week, filled with laughter, delicious food and too many white wines watered down with ice to apparently prevent a hangover by work the next day.

Jamie Williams

Garry is one of Nigel's oldest friendships. These boys have seen a lot of outback Australia together, whether it be participating in the Finke Desert Race or driving a "snot" green car to raise funds for the Endeavor Foundation rally. You can always tell when Garry is calling by the catch cry Nigel belts out upon answering the phone. Since the invention of QR codes, even when there are states of Australia between them, the boys love to send each other a code in hopes of getting the other to "send them a beer." Garry's children, Teneal, Christie-Lee and Ashley, hold a special place in Nigel's heart and he treats them as if they were his own.

Garry Reed

Nigel and Jason go all the way back to the early 2000s when they met on a building site in Petrie on Jason’s birthday of all days. Bonding over a shared love of beer, tech and top-tier crap talking, they’ve been inseparable ever since. Whether it’s long Saturday night phone calls that could bankrupt a small country and definitely kept Telstra in business or just catching up over a cold one, these two can talk for hours about everything and nothing. More so nothing as the night drags on. Jason’s been a constant in Nigel’s life and having him in the wedding party is a no-brainer.

Jason Wallis

Katrina and Jamie’s friendship dates back to the 90s, a time when Dawson’s Creek was popular, Merimbula didn’t have a McDonald's, and Jamie had just started his first job working for Katrina’s parents at Retrovision. These two have been lifelong companions, growing up side by side every step of the way. From nearly burning down Jamie's mum’s house while cooking chocolate soufflés to underage clubbing, they share a bond that can survive anything life throws their way. Even if they haven’t spoken in a while and distance tries to get between them, put them in a room together and it feels like no time has passed.

Katrina Wykes

Carolyn was one of the first friends Jamie made after moving to Canberra. She’s been a clubbing sidekick, gig companion, foodie mate, and loyal ally throughout Jamie's twenties, thirties and now forties. You’d likely remember them cutting up the Lot 33 dance floor or chatting in the corners at after-parties while Carolyn wore her trademark white jacket “fluffy." Carolyn would never leave a night out without ensuring Jamie was safe even if it meant once reluctantly cleaning up after Jamie following a disgraceful taxi ride.

Carolyn Lees

Adam is Jamie’s ride-or-die gay brother from another mother. You’ll often find them at the gym or a Parkrun in the morning so they can hit the town and get wasted that afternoon—burning calories to consume calories. Adam is a great support when Jamie needs to talk about gay men’s issues, and they can chat a night away discussing movies, music, and pop culture.

Adam Gregory

Jamie and his straight mate Gavin have shared many beers, cocktails, and hangovers. They have lived together, worked together, and survived lockdown through COVID together. Gavin, who is very protective of Jamie, has rescued him on several Canberra nights out and even one Mardi Gras in Sydney. While their time living together was reminiscent of TV’s The Odd Couple, Jamie would happily do it all over again for the antics and laughs they shared.

Gavin McMullan

Jamie’s goddaughter Alia, whom Carolyn honored him with the role of godparent, completes his grooms party in the most important role of all: Flower Girl. Alia has recently said she cannot wait to perform this very special task for her “fairy godfather.”
