FESTIVE best. Wear the thing you've always wanted to wear but have never had anywhere to wear it. Glitter, sparkles, bold prints, rich jewel tones, your favorite NYE outfit, funky accessories. These are the things that make us feel celebratory, but if none of this excites you, wear whatever makes YOU happy! Unless Crocs make you happy.&nbsp;Then you'll just have to understand it isn't your day.&nbsp;We do suggest shoes that are comfortable for dancing! Q + A

The closest airport is ORF (Norfolk, VA). From there, we recommend a rental car. The drive is approximately 3 hours but if you haven't been to the OBX, we recommend allowing some extra time to explore. For the wedding day, we will be providing transportation via Hatteras Island Transportation. We will be setting up pickup times that will be staggered so that everyone can arrive in time to be seated for the ceremony. It is extremely important that you be ready at your designated pick up time. We'll follow up with guests attending so that we can give them the information the week before the wedding. While we have not personally stayed at any of these locations, these are the recommendations of our venue. We have listed them here with the closest first. The furthest is 9 miles away. Another option is to get a rental home. There are two rental homes on either side of the property that are linked below. If these homes are not available or don't suit your needs but you would like to rent a house, please let us know as The Inn frequently works with the rental companies in the area and would be able to help find the best location for your needs.

We HIGHLY recommend you stop by Orange Blossom Bakery and get an Apple Ugly. Fair warning, they are only open 6:30 - 11 am (or they sell out) but are totally worth getting up early. The Apple Uglies are heavy and can easily be shared - but be prepared to fight for the last bite! We've also had their breakfast sandwiches and liked them if you need some protein.

Orange Blossom Bakery & Cafe

One of the most famous lighthouses in the US, it is also the tallest in the country.  The Hatteras Island Visitor Center and Museum of the Sea are also right here.  The lighthouse is currently (Apr 2025) undergoing renovations but should be open again by our wedding weekend!

Cape Hatteras Lighthouse

The Outer Banks have the largest waves on the East Coast because it is situated to receive swells from multiple direction, making it a great spot for surfers. We generally also find the beaches in this area to be fairly isolated and great for looking for shells or just working on your tan and reading.
