When are RSVPs due?
We ask you to kindly respond no later than April 9th. To RSVP, click the RSVP tab at the top of our website and type the name listed on your invitation. If you do not RSVP, we will assume that you are unable to attend.
Is there a dress code?
Yes, please wear semi-formal attire – think cocktail dresses, midi dresses, & dressy jumpsuits for the ladies and dress pants and dress shirt (tie-optional) for the men. Please no jeans, shorts, or t-shirts. We ask that you reserve hues of blue for the wedding party. Note that the ceremony will take place outside.
Can I bring a plus one?
To ensure we can accommodate all guests comfortably within the venue’s capacity, we ask that only invited guests attend. If you received a plus one, that was indicated on your invitation and will appear under your name when you RSVP. We appreciate your understanding.
Are my kids invited?
We have decided to keep our wedding and reception an adults only event with the exception of our ring bearers. We encourage you to use this evening as a date night!
What time should I arrive?
The ceremony will begin promptly at 4:30pm. Please arrive with enough time prior to the ceremony to find your seat. There will be a complementary shuttle service from the hotel to the venue, which will also take guests back to the hotel at the end of the night. The shuttle will pick up guests from the hotel before the ceremony, with the first shuttle at 3:45 p.m. and the second shuttle at 4:15 p.m.
Is there parking on site?
Parking is available at the venue, though space is somewhat limited. Guests are welcome to drive themselves, but are also encouraged to park at the Fairfield Inn in Oskaloosa and take our wedding shuttle to the venue. The first shuttle prior to the ceremony will be at 3:45 p.m, with the second shuttle at approximately 4:15 p.m. Following dinner, the shuttle will return to the Fairfield Inn approximately every 30 minutes.
How do I get to the venue?
The ceremony and reception will both take place at Backroads Retreat (2321 Highland Ave, Oskaloosa, IA). If you are driving to the venue, please note that Google and Apple Maps may direct you onto a secondary road that is not well maintained. For the best travel experience, please refer to and follow the directions provided below, rather than those generated by Google or Apple Maps:
Coming from Oskaloosa to BackRoads Retreat:
• Take IA-163 North toward Pella
• Turn left on 235th St.
• Go ~1 mile
• Turn right on to Highland Ave.
• Arrive at 2321 Highland Ave.
Coming from Pella to BackRoads Retreat:
• Take IA-163 East toward Oskaloosa
• Turn right on 235th St.
• Go ~1 mile
• Turn right on to Highland Ave.
