Thank you for coming to our wedding! After 10 years together, we are SO EXCITED to celebrate our love with our friends and family. As you all know, La Ventana is a place that is very special to us, and we cannot wait to share it with you all. The Q&A, Travel, and Things To Do Tabs are designed to help make your trip to La Ventana smoother and more fun!!!
Since the wedding is in Mexico, you will need a passport. The passport typically needs to be NOT expiring within 6 months of travel. The process of getting and/or renewing a passport is long, so IF YOU DON’T HAVE A PASSPORT OR IT IS EXPIRED, PLEASE ALLOW PLENTY OF TIME TO GET A CURRENT PASSPORT!!!
Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate children during our wedding.
Money related quirks
- Please withdrawal PESOS using an ATM in the United States or while in the Cabo Airport. There are NO functioning ATMs in La Ventana (they either don’t work or are out of money). Therefore, if you don’t have enough pesos, you may have to travel to La Paz or Los Barriles to get additional money. Make sure you have USD as a back-up currency (almost everywhere in La Ventana takes USD, but you will not get the best exchange rate using USD). About 50% of places in La Ventana do take credit card.
Driving related quirks
- The road to La Ventana is very rough and the last portion is all dirt/sand. You can take a small car on it (we always do), but you must drive with caution. There are intermittent potholes and speed bumps that can seem like they come out of nowhere. Additionally, you will see cows and dogs that frequently run across the road. It is best to drive during the daytime, if possible, as the roads are also poorly lit.
Mexico related quirks
- Don’t drink the water from the sink anywhere in Mexico.
- Watch out for snakes and spiders in the desert areas.
This is a short guide to things you may want to bring to the wedding that might not be obvious.
General Things
- Speaker: If you want beachside jams.
- Snorkel gear and wetsuit: If you have these items, it can be nice to avoid renting.
- Sunscreen: It is best for the reefs to have biodegradable sunscreen if possible.
- Sunglasses
Specific Clothes
- Hats: You will need sun cover.
- Bathing suits
- Warm clothes: Although it is warm during the day, it gets cold in the morning and evening so make sure you bring pants and sweaters also.
- Wedding clothes: The recommended dress for the wedding is “island chic.” This means sun dresses or equivalent for women and dressy casual for men.
Specific Shoes
- The wedding ceremony is planned to be in the sand and the reception will be on a platform. Therefore, the recommended footwear for the wedding is barefoot or in sandals. Any shoes will be fine for the reception on the platform. Some of the men are wearing flat "loafer/boat" type shoes.
No need to bring a gift! Your presence is all we want.
