Travel

Below are some helpful tips regarding how best to get to the wedding and navigate around Baja.

- Air Travel: Your flight should probably land inbound and take off outbound from Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. La Ventana will be about a 2 to 2.5 hour drive from the airport. Landing and taking off from La Paz is also an option. Although this is closer (about a 50 minute drive from La Ventana) to La Ventana, it is often more expensive and has fewer flights in and out. Therefore, people rarely fly into this destination.

- Ground Travel: We plan to have a few vans to La Ventana on the Thursday before the wedding and back to the airport from La Ventana on Sunday. At this point, these vans have been booked and only those who have already indicated their interest are planned to take them. You can easily rent a car at the airport (see below), if you are not one of the guests who will be taking the shuttle. We will have a shuttle run down the main street in La Ventana before and after the wedding to assure everyone gets to and from the Welcome Event and Wedding safely and can enjoy alcoholic beverages, if desired (regardless of if you are using the shuttle to/from the airport).

Car rental details: When you land at the airport, you will likely take a shuttle to your car rental location. You can get to La Ventana in any size car, even though the roads are rough. There are lots of car rental places that are options, but we did get a group deal on National Car Rental MX. If you want to take advantage of the discounted group rates use the following link:

https://nationalcar.com.mx/en

Enter ID 125120 in the section that says: # AGENCY / CORPORATE to get the group rate. All of the rental agencies will make you get insurance.

Accommodations

Our wedding will be held at Palacio Blanco. One of the main benefits of having our wedding in La Ventana was to allow people to choose accommodations that best fit their price range and interests. Everything in La Ventana is close in proximity, as it is a very small town, so you can choose anywhere you find most fit. Below are a few of our favorites that we would like to highlight for you. However, please note there are many fantastic places to stay, and there is no reason you have to choose one of these options. The main goal is to book your accommodation in La Ventana or El Sargento.

- Air BNB: When we travel to La Ventana we most frequently just use Air BNB to secure a small villa or house. This seems to be the easiest and cheapest way to book. Note that you can rent in La Ventana OR El Sargento, as they are a continuation of the same town and directly abut each other.

- ChangoMango: This is a typical hang out spot for young people, and the hotel also has some of the best nighttime parties in town. The rooms themselves are small pods with just a bed and some shelves (check out the website). The bathrooms are shared. There is also a pool, hot tub, full bar, and restaurant on site. There is not direct access to the beach front from this hotel.

- Villa Paraiso: This hotel has breathtaking views of the bay. The Titanic Room has one of the best views we have seen yet in La Ventana, and you will wake up looking directly at the sunrise. The hotel also sports a restaurant, full bar, three pools, and many common areas with various games. There is direct access to the beautiful beachfront also. Keep in mind that it is a typical La Ventana hotel, so it is not perfectly maintained, but beautiful none the less.

- Baja Joes: This hotel has various different rooms/villa types for different prices. It also has a coffee shop, restaurant, bar, and direct beach access. It is also a popular spot to do yoga in the morning. The resort itself has a cool kiteboarding/water sports vibe.

- Ventana Wind Sports: Similarly, this hotel has various different rooms/villa types for different prices. It also has a restaurant that is very wind sheltered, bar, hot tub, beach front pool, spa, and direct beach access. It is one of the best maintained resorts on La Ventana.

- Club Cerralvo: Similarly, this hotel has various different rooms/villa types for different prices. This location has private gaited parking. There is a restaurant, but it does not have an associated bar. During our last visit, the pool was under construction, but planned to be completed by the time of the wedding. The location has great views of the ocean but no direct beach access.

- Casa Tara Hotel: This is a fancy and beautiful yoga and wellness retreat hotel. They have gorgeous rooms, great food and drinks at the restaurant, an amazing beachfront pool, and direct beach access. It is on the more expensive side of accommodations you can find in La Ventana.
