Our Wedding

Peter and Julia met while both working at Stargate Studios in South Pasadena, California. Julia, being a recent college grad, was very focussed on getting her career in VFX jump-started so it took Peter a few times of asking her out before she gave in! It didn't take long before they realized what a great fit they were and how much they had in common. Not just likes and dislikes, but big goals for the future too. As they moved on to working at separate companies, this solid foundation has served them as they've continued to foster their careers: Peter as a VFX Producer and Julia as a VFX IT Engineer. Now, as they prepare for their wedding, they look forward to this new life adventure together knowing they've got what it takes to face what may come. And they're incredibly excited to share it with their loved ones who come to witness their commitment to each other!

Long Beach - near the Queen Mary...

Duh ! Haha in all seriousness, it's such a big ship with so much to offer. There are numerous tours and so many delicious restaurants/cafes.

Always a pleasure to visit any time of year. The bride and groom have only visited once together but have talked about it ever since. A favorite spot of Peter's is the Lorikeet cages, so be sure to pay them a visit!

Aquarium of the Pacific

It is 100% worth your time to take the ferry out to Catalina Island for a day. There's so much to do and see on the island that you really could spend a week there.

Catalina Express

A quirky set of three small islands connected by a series of canals. It makes for a scenic walk, but there are also gondolas that you can hop on to take a dreamy ride down the many waterways.

The Gamble House

The house was originally located on the other side of the street and about a block down but was moved here sometime after filming completed. It's owned/run by a real estate business now, so you can't wander around inside (they only used the outside for filming anyway), but it's a fun landmark and you can easily walk up to the house and take photos.!Just down the street is Lorie's house too! 1115 Oxley St South Pasadena, CA 91030And the "Halloween Hedge" is located here 1019 Montrose Ave, S Pasadena, CA 91030

Michael Myers’ House

Sprawling gardens with countless species of plant life and amazingly curated museums - we spent a whole day here once and couldn't see it all! Their tea room is also known to be very good and the libraries are top notch for scholars all over the world.

Beautiful area with different types of art for everyone - our personal favorites are the copies of Rodin's sculptures but they also have gardens in the back, tons of classical paintings, and various pieces from the world over.

Norton Simon Museum

Hollywood/Central LA

Julia's first official job in LA was working as an usher at this historic theater! It was a dream come true and nothing will compare to living in this space for a short time. All the major touring productions come through here after finishing their Broadway runs, so definitely see what's on while you're in town!

Hollywood Pantages Theatre

Gorgeous, expansive park with dozens of trails and landmarks. There's no bad direction to go if you want to hike or get a good view of the Hollywood sign, but if you're in the mood for a museum they have many of those too! Be sure not to miss one of our faves, the Disney Barn, which usually has free public Sunday hours, and the ruins of the Old LA Zoo (the newer functional zoo is also nearby).

A beautiful outdoor mall that will give you a concentrated dose of "LA life". Great food too

The Americana at Brand

Beautiful street lined with good food and great shops. This is the first Salt and Straw location that Julia was introduced to by her brother Matthew, and it changed her life. Peter has had to put up with it ever since LOL

Beautiful outdoor mall that will give you a concentrated dose of "LA life". Great food too

A cute food hall with something for everyone, and wandering up and down the street will yield great finds as well. Plenty of shops and eateries to explore, plus across the street is the historic Culver City Hotel where the munchkins stayed while filming the Wizard of Oz! (sometimes they let you see the rooms that are still sized proportionally for the munchkins' needs, but their bar alone is gorgeous if you just want to bask in Old Hollywood charm for a moment)

Citizen Public Market

That recognizable pier from probably half of the shows/movies you've seen! It's typically very busy, but it will give you a concentrated dose of "LA life".

LA-famous bakery that people come away talking about - I've never had a bad pastry or meal or drink here. If you continue up and down Magnolia Blvd you'll find endless interesting shops to explore as well, including some that resell old prop pieces and costumes from famous movies!

Porto's Bakery and Cafe

One of the best museums we've ever visited and constantly look for excuses to go back to! It labels itself as an auto and music collection, however we believe it's so much richer than that. You'll be surprised what you learn from the tour guides - they're all amazing!

Everyone has a strong opinion about ramen, but this is our personal favorite. We've been to dozens of other ramen shops in the country, and we still say this one is the best!

Shin-Sen-Gumi Hakata Ramen - Little Tokyo

If you have a favorite musical artist, they probably have a section about them here! While they have rotating exhibits all the time, there's always something interesting to see whether you want to dive into the beginnings of music development in America or exclusively listen to whatever's new.

Just Outside of LA....

Our favorite apple picking spot! They are open all year, so even if the apples aren't ripe for picking you can see apple blossoms or taste local honeys or play carnival games and shop around

Riley's Farm

Our favorite getaway spot - if you have time in the area before/after the wedding festivities, definitely check it out! Relax by the water, wander the main street, eat some amazing food (our favorite cafe is Copper Q, so tell them we said "Hi!").

Big Bear Lake

AKA the "glass church" is a beautiful structure tucked away into the trees. The idea was to be one with nature, so if you don't look carefully you might miss it! It was built by Lloyd Wright (son of Frank Lloyd Wright) and is affiliated with the Swedenborgian Church of North America. Now it serves as a memorial to the 18th century scientist and theosopher, Emanuel Swedenborg.The church has also been featured in a number of shows and movies: "The OC", "The Rockford Files", "Innerspace", "90210", "Endless Love", "Revenge", "Lucifer", and Pentatonix music video "Amazing Grace" just to name a few.Also, Jayne Mansfield was married to Mickey Hargitay here in 1958

The Queen Mary is Longer and Faster than the Titanic   Celebrity Passengers include Bob Hope, Fred Astaire, Bing Crosby, Elizabeth Taylor, Clark Gable, Greta Garbo, Audrey Hepburn, Lynne Redgrave, Winston Churchill, The Duke & Duchess of Windsor, Dwight Eisenhower, Queen Elizabeth, Jackie Kennedy, and Robert Kennedy   Her interior features some of the grandest, most intricate and beautiful interior designs ever aboard an ocean liner influenced by the Art Deco movement of the 1920's and 30's   The Queen Mary Has made over 1001 Trans-Atlantic crossings   This has resulted in at least 49 recorded deaths and it's said that as many as 150 different spirits haunt the ship. The Ballroom that the Wedding Ceremony is in is specifically haunted by the ghost of a Chef who was locked in the walk in oven and burned alive by the crew.   During WW2 The Queen Mary was nicknamed The Grey Ghost due to it's new grey paint job and how swiftly it moved seamen across the atlantic.   Her worse war time accident occurred on Octber 2, 1942 when she collided with a British antiaircraft cruiser resulting in the death of 236 British seamen   On October 31, 1967 The Queen Mary was permanently docked in Long Beach CA.   In 1988 Walt Disney bought The Queen Mary with plans to turn it into the Hotel of a Long Beach based theme park.   The large white dome next the The Queen Mary today serves as the port for Carnival Cruise LInes but prior to that it was home of the famous Spruce Goose   The small black submarine off the bow of the ship is the Scorpion, a retired Russian submarine that was stationed one mile off the east coast of the US during the Cold War
