**If you're considering wearing Indian attire to some events and American attire to others, we would recommend wearing Indian attire to the Sangeet!**
1. Henna/Welcome Party:
Indian Casual (Women: Anarkali or Palazzo Set; Men: Casual Kurta) or American Casual (Women: Sundress, jumpsuit, etc; Men: Khakis/chinos or shorts, casual collared shirt).
2. Haldi:
Semi-Formal Indian or American Casual (same as above).
Wear pink, yellow, or orange!
3. Sangeet:
Formal Indian (Women: Lehenga Choli; Men: Kurta) or Semi-Formal American (Women: A semi-formal dress; Men: Slacks/chinos with a long sleeve button-down, sports coat optional).
Ideally something you can dance in!
4. Indian Wedding Ceremony and American Wedding Ceremony:
Indian Formal or American Formal (Women: Saree, Lehenga, or a formal American dress; Men: Kurta or Suit).
The Indian ceremony will be first, then followed by the cocktail hour, and then followed by the American ceremony. If you are planning to wear Indian attire for the Indian ceremony, there will be space available to change if needed for the American ceremony and reception.
Some footwear ideas to go with Indian outfits:
Women: Generally, open-toe footwear that would go with comparable American attire in formalness (formal, semi-formal, casual, etc.). Of course, feel free to wear what works best for you.
Men: Generally, men will wear matching sandals (not slides), Birkenstocks, or boat shoes. Again, please feel free to wear what works best for you.

Descriptions of Indian garments:
For Women:
Anarkali: It is a type of long, floor-length, flowing dress that is fitted at the bodice and flares out from the waist, creating an A-line silhouette.
Palazzo Set: A Palazzo Set is a chic and fashionable outfit that features wide-legged trousers (palazzos) paired with a coordinating top or tunic.
Saree: A traditional, elegant garment consisting of a long piece of fabric (usually around 6 to 9 yards) draped around the body. Sarees are formal and perfect for the wedding day itself or for other special events.
Lehenga Choli: A popular option for women, especially at the reception or pre-wedding events like Sangeet and Mehendi (henna party). It includes a long skirt (lehenga), a blouse (choli), and often a matching scarf (dupatta).
For Men:
Kurta: A more casual option that consists of a tunic-style shirt (kurta) and loose pants (pajama). You can replace the pajama pants with chino pants for a more fitted look!
Sherwani: A long coat-like garment often worn by the groom, but it can also be worn by male guests for the wedding. It’s elegant and formal, usually with intricate designs.
