Q + A

Amelia Island

Some tidbits of information to help with your travel plans! The hottest event of the year (besides our wedding) is being hosted the same weekend: The Amelia Island Shrimp Festival. So book your accomodation swiftly! The closest airport is Jacksonville International (JAX). It is about a 45 minute drive from the airport to the island. Rental cars and Ubers/Lyfts are readily available from the aiport. Airport transport is also available with the companies listed below. Take the A1A (Heckscher Drive) if you've got some time to kill - it's a nice scenic route. If y'all are feeling real bougie, there is a private airport on the island. We will be providing a shuttle service to and fro the wedding venue. Rideshare services on the island are limited.

Accommodation

Hot breakfast included in your stay and they provide a shuttle to the Omni. Wedding Rate. If you are looking to arrive Thursday night or before, please call Cat Dailey at (904) 557-9855 and ask for the Edwards-Hathock group rate.

Our personal favorite - they have a fantastic cocktail bar called The Principal's Office. Try their white negroni!

Travel

There's plenty to do on Amelia Island! I've listed a few activities that Rich and I like do below. I would book activities as soon as possible as the island starts to get busy around this time of year.

Look, you're on a Florida island. Go to the beach.

The Beach

The hottest event of the year returns! Go get your shrimp on, y'all.

Isle Of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival

One of the best breweries on the island. Their Cosmico IPA is delicious.

Listen, how can Rich and I NOT list a distillery as one of the best things to do on the island?!

Marlin & Barrel Distillery

If you need a break from the booze, Fort Clinch State Park has a great self-lead walking tour. It's on the north tip of the island so you get some pretty cool views + history!

Fort Clinch State Park

Rich still hasn't beaten me in putt putt...

Gregor MacGregor's Mini Links & Drinks

Guided kayak tours of the rivers and marshes. They have an awesome sunset tour.
