Dr. Phil Duncan and I are excited to see you and spend the weekend catching up! The idea for this gathering was proposed by one of the RPI friends of Robin Nourse, while attending a celebration of Robin's life. Like all of you, after RPI, “life happened.”&nbsp;Mindful of my friend Roger’s frequent pronouncement that “we’re now in the 4th quarter of life”, we jumped into organizing this gathering.&nbsp;&nbsp; RPI was the place where most of us met for the first time.&nbsp;RPI was also that crucible, which made us draw closer and supportive of each other. My mother-in-law often says, “give me my flowers now, so that I may enjoy them.”&nbsp;Each and every one of you is a cherished flower.&nbsp;Spending time with you will be a priceless gift! We have planned a weekend of group activities.&nbsp;Feel free to make additional suggestions.&nbsp;Most of all, please come and share some of your precious time with fellow “RPI” travelers. The Maggie L. Walker National Historic Site is a National Historic Site. Maggie L. Walker devoted her life to civil rights advancement, economic empowerment, and educational opportunities for Jim Crow-era African Americans and women. As a bank president, newspaper editor, and fraternal leader, Walker served as an inspiration of pride and progress. Today, Walker’s home is preserved as a tribute to her enduring legacy of vision, courage, and determination.

Bill "Bojangles" Robinson helped to break down barriers in Hollywood and the entertainment industry. Born "Luther Robinson" in Richmond’s Jackson Ward on May 25, 1878, Bill “Bojangles” Robinson became the world's preeminent tap dancer of his day, best known for his Broadway performances and film roles. He is not only remembered for his innovative tap dancing techniques, but for his philanthropy as well. As he traveled, during one of his visits back home through the intersection that now surrounds his statue, he observed a child narrowly escape being struck by a car. He spent his own money to erect a traffic light at the intersecction, and years later a statue was built in his honor.
