Andrew and Ryan met playing Stonewall kickball in April 2017, when they were randomly assigned to play on the same team. Andrew joined Ryan's team the following season, where they continued to catch balls... and feelings.

Feelings gave way to dating, which gave way to starting a life together. In November 2019, they rescued quite possibly the best dog in the entire world, Penny. Then, a few months later, they purchased a home together in Fishtown, Philadelphia.

Andrew had wanted to visit San Miguel de Allende ever since it was featured in a Top Chef season finale. So, for his 40th birthday, Ryan planned a trip to SMA. The two fell absolutely in love with the charming city and vowed to return some point soon.

In October 2022, Andrew and Ryan took a fairly spontaneous trip to the City of Love. Though the croissants, Van Goghs, and champagne were all magnifique, they both agree on the real highlight - when Ryan proposed to Andrew in front of the Eiffel Tower.
