Sam accidentally walked by Spenser while he was tabling at MoCCA, which is Manhattan's largest independent comics and cartoon festival. Only months (and several dates later) did Sam realize where she had seen Spenser before.

We met the old fashioned way—Tinder! 🔥 Spenser took Sam on a date to Photoville, in DUMBO (Brooklyn), which is an annual photography and VR exhibition. Since our lives are ridiculously over-documented these days, we offer up this evidence of the sneaky photo Spenser took on the date. Spenser liked Sam enough to haul to DUMBO from Bushwick on a weekend morning and met her for breakfast before, where they talked books and anime.

Spenser lends Sam a free pro badge to NYCC (thanks, Jen K.!), and by the end of this nerdy long weekend, we had basically agreed other people were boring and not worth dating. 😜

This is the first photo we took together, after seeing La La Land. Not much has changed: we’re still big musical and movie kids.

Sam goes home with Spenser for Christmas in South Carolina and meets most of his family for the first time. Here we are sneaking out on the roof (sorry, Mrs. Anderson!).

We took our first big trip together for two weeks in London! Sam is a goober and did not know why Spense wanted to go to Paris so badly (it was because he wanted to tell her he loved her for the first time there). He did so in London anyways, and it was a lovely trip.

Is your first wedding as a couple a canon event? We are believers in going 💯 for weddings, especially mutual Tinder couples. Thanks for having us, Chris and Caroline!

Sam continues to meet Spenser after work in the lobby of the Chrysler Building, where CAA's offices are. On their first anniversary, besides plenty of other lovely parts, Spenser gives Sam a key to his apartment in the lobby of the Chrysler.

Our first trip to the SF Bay together (hi, Lateef!) was fully of all the tasty things and lots of friends since Sam used to live there.

We sure didn’t plan it, but it all worked out that our second anniversary was when we moved in together—in Chelsea! Sam started law school this year.

Happy gotcha’ day to our main lil’ dude, Teto, named for Nausicaä’s companion in the movie of the same name. He was found in the back of a truck in Tennessee and brought to NYC by a local rescue, so we joke he might have a Southern accent we can't hear.

We didn't get out much this year. Can't remember what happened much besides Animal Crossing?

5 days after their 5th anniversary, Spenser took Sam to a quiet park in Barcelona and it immediately started raining. That didn't stop Spenser from getting his knee dirty, and proposing at the center of the labyrinth. She said yes! And then the sun came out!
