Our love story began in the same place all contemporary romantic classics do. On Bumble! If you’re unfamiliar, Bumble is the dating app where after a match is made, the woman has to make the first move within 24 hours or the match expires forever. After making Terry sweat for a few hours, Samm engaged and here we are! The end.

Okay just kidding! There’s a little more to it than that. Terry, while bored in his apartment on a cold February day in Minneapolis, hopped on Bumble. It was a couple of days after his 34th birthday, which turned out to be fortuitous timing for Terry, as Samm had employed strict restrictions on her account that weeded out anyone more than one year younger, two years older, and absolutely anyone outside the main neighborhoods of Northeast Minneapolis. Conversely, Terry had never bothered with the restriction settings in his Bumble account and thus had a bit deeper of a pool to wade through to find Samm.

Thankfully, Terry’s birthday aged him up just enough to get the greatest phone notification of his life. “Sammantha has matched with you on Bumble! [bumble bee emoji]”

“Samm with two M’s,” Terry thought. “How classy!”

After a witty back-and-forth, an incoming snow storm expedited their first date. A true Northeast night out where truffle fries at the Peacock Lounge (R.I.P. sweet prince!) were followed by beers at the famous 331 Club where Samm and Terry somehow managed to communicate over the screamo band destroying the house sound system as well as everyone’s eardrums.

Fast forward to today, Samm and Terry have made a home, planted a garden, and built a sports bar in the garage, among other things, all while rarely venturing out of the haven that is Northeast Minneapolis.
