The Dates of Samm & Terry: a tour of Nordeast
First date: The historic 331 Club (if you’re looking for a dive bar and live music)
First anniversary: All Saints (if you’re looking for something fancy)
Place Terry isn’t allowed to go to without Samm: Centro (if you’re looking for our favorite tacos and margs)
Most frequent date: Element Wood Fire Pizza (if you’re looking for just really solid pizza)
Second date: Elsie’s (if you’re looking for a bowling alley, sports bar, or meat raffle)
Not nearly frequent enough date: Northeast Social (if you’re looking for a really solid meal)
Another frequent date: Young Joni (if you’re looking for a place featured on the popular Netflix program ‘Chef’s Table)
Another multiple dive bar date: Mayslack’s (if you’re new in town and looking for pull tabs)
For the sports fans (of which there are several of you):
Even if the Timberwolves aren't playing in the Western Conference Finals in late May again, there will still be plenty of games to catch at many of our beloved sporting venues around town.
The Twins have home games on Wednesday (12:10 pm), Friday (7:10 pm), Saturday (1:10 pm), and Sunday (1:10 pm) during wedding week. Target field is close to Nicollet Island Pavilion, but maybe only try to make it to that Sunday game if you're speedy and are cool with leaving by the 7th-inning stretch (don't even think about it, groomsmen).
The four-time/should be five-time WNBA champion Minnesota Lynx have home games on Wednesday (7 pm), Friday (6:30 pm), and Tuesday (7 pm).
Minnesota United FC (tha FACKIN' LOONS!) also have a home game on Saturday night at 7:30 pm. Grab a beer at one of Terry's favorite haunts, The Black Hart of Saint Paul before the game.
For the Minnesota State Fair Fans: Kickoff to Summer at the Fair is back! Started during COVID, the fifth annual will run May 22-25. This slice-of-the-fair event features food and fun things to do – but with the laid-back patio vibe we all love about Minnesota summers. Favorite fair food and brews at nearly 40 vendors, music and entertainment free with admission, shopping at 20+ specialty Minnesota merchants, Giant Slide rides, yard games, history tours, free parking, and so much more!
