Things to Do While You’re Here

We’re so excited for you to experience Rhode Island! While our wedding will take place in Portsmouth, we recommend spending some time in nearby Newport, just a quick 15-minute drive, for stunning coastal views, historic charm, and plenty to explore.

Sightseeing & Strolls

Cliff Walk – A scenic 3.5-mile trail along the ocean, offering breathtaking views of the coastline and historic mansions.

The Newport Mansions – Step into Gilded Age grandeur at The Breakers, Marble House, or Rosecliff. (We dare you not to imagine a Gatsby-style party while you’re there.)

Bowen’s & Bannister’s Wharves – Quaint cobblestone streets lined with boutiques, cafés, and harbor views.

Beaches & Water Activities

Easton’s Beach (First Beach) – Perfect for a sunny afternoon with saltwater taffy in hand.

Second Beach (Sachuest) – A locals’ favorite with soft sand and beautiful dunes.

Sailing Tours – Book a harbor cruise or sunset sail for the quintessential Newport experience.

Food & Drink

The Mooring – Waterfront dining with incredible seafood and an unbeatable view.

Midtown Oyster Bar – Fresh oysters, lobster rolls, and lively atmosphere.

White Horse Tavern – America’s oldest tavern, dating back to 1673 — cozy, historic, and full of charm.

Belle’s Café – A hidden gem for breakfast or brunch inside the Newport Shipyard.

Day Trips & Hidden Gems

Ocean Drive – A 10-mile scenic drive past beaches, rocky coastline, and impressive estates.

Green Animals Topiary Garden – Quirky and picturesque, with whimsical shaped hedges.

Fort Adams State Park – Historic fort, harbor views, and picnic-perfect lawns.
