Jazz and Ribs Fest 2024: July 19th-21st | Scioto Mile Downtown Riverfront https://www.hotribscooljazz.org/
Restaurants:
-Ampersand Asian Supper Club: one of our favorite dinner spots
-Speck: modern, upscale Italian ($$$) and where we went to dinner before Joseph proposed :)
-Valter's at the Maennerchor: BEST German food and AMAZING brunch
-Schmidt's Sausage Haus: a Columbus staple. Also a great place to walk around, visit their shops, and try a giant cream puff
-North Market Downtown: many vendors with a little bit of everything. We recommend Momo Ghar and Hot Chicken Takeover
-East Market: located in the old Trolley District, lots of food vendors and Columbus Brewing Company
-Aab India in Grandview: some of the best Indian food in the city. Check out their lunch buffet!
Pizza Places:
-Sara’s Favorite: Plank’s Cafe on Parsons (best pizza) or Plank’s Biergarten in German Village (still really good pizza with outdoor seating options)
-Joseph’s Favorite: Sexton’s in Italian Village
-Delivery: Grandad’s in Grandview OR you can’t go wrong with Donato’s
-Honorable Mention: Mikey's Late Night Slice (decent pizza that's open late)
Breakfast/Brunch:
-Valter's at the Maennerchor: possibly our favorite brunch in the city. Try their skillets!
-Dempsey's Food & Spirits: Irish restaurant downtown with a very good brunch and usually isn't too busy
-DK Diner in Grandview: divey diner with donuts and amazing food. We recommend the biscuit sandy and a pancake for the table. **No reservations so prepare for a wait (but it usually goes faster than the estimated wait time). If you go here and can't get in, you can easily walk to Knotty Pine for a backup option
-Knotty Pine in Grandview: DIY Bloody Mary bar and cheap-ish mimosas
-Tommy's Diner: cheap, divey, fast, classic, and delicious diner breakfast. Likely to be packed on a weekend so you'll likely have a wait but they turn over tables quickly
-Ohio Brewing Company: one of our favorite overall restaurants. We would recommend this if you have a large group, don't want a long wait, and need a lot of free parking lot. Plus, they have a great patio. The brunch is solid
-Cafe Illyria: walking distance from the hotel
-Grandview Cafe
-Fox in the Snow: this is for when you're feeling bougie and also are in the mood to wait in line for an hour. Their egg sandwich is legendary and their pastries rock, but be warned - obtaining this on a weekend is comparable to Frodo Baggins's journey to Mordor
Breweries & Bars:
-Tip Top Kitchen & Cocktails: where we're hosting our after-party! A total dive (in the best way) with really good food
-Ohio Brewing Company: a hidden gem! Go here for a great patio, typically small crowds, and plenty of free parking
-Brewdog Franklinton: where we had our first date!
-Land-Grant Brewing Franklinton: just a really solid spot with a beer garden
-Little Rock in Italian Village: go here if you want a second-floor rooftop bar without the insane crowds and high prices
-Jackie O’s on Fourth: just blocks from the Renaissance where we have our hotel room block. Pins Mechanical Factory is right next door as well
-Byrne’s Pub in Grandview: BEST Irish pub and also where we met!!
-Out-R-Inn: the best OSU campus bar of all time O-H-I-Out-R-Inn
Things to Do:
-Explore OSU's campus: we recommend walking around the Oval and Mirror Lake
-Columbus Art Museum: free on Sundays!
-Topiary Park: insta-worthy micropark near downtown
-Franklin Park Conservatory
-Get lost in the Book Loft in German Village
-The Scioto Mile: A scenic walk along the Scioto with great views of the skyline and where Joseph proposed! *this will be overrun with Jazz and Ribs Fest attendees during the weekend of our wedding
-Shop around in the Short North
-Scioto Audubon Metro Park
