Nate and Sarah met at the wedding of mutual school friends, and then ignored one another's existence for approximately 5 years.

Then those friends brought together good people to play fun games, and we started to hang out despite living on opposite sides of the country.

We played as many games together as possible: video games, board games, email games. We shared thoughts and got to know each other for real. We wrote and sent letters that were neither to nor from us.

For the next year and a half we dated from 3000 miles apart. By hook and by crook, we managed to see each other at least once each month (we might have cheated a bit with trips that crossed months, but we did it!) We had fun adventures, met family and new friends, and decided it was time to take the next step...

And move in together in San Francisco in March of 2020! We went from seeing each other once a month to spending 24 hours a day with only each other for company when the world shut down. It could have gone very badly, but instead it went very well!

We adopted a wonderful old dog, and loved with her all our hearts for the too short time she was with us.

Nate asked Sarah to marry him on a family trip to Colorado. He tried to find a quiet and beautiful spot alone by the river on a hike, but had to settle for the spot where the dog lay down and refused to go any further. It was perfect!
