On September 8th, 2018, Sarah and Charlie were seated across from each other at the wedding of mutual friends in Milwaukee. Both single, they got to know each other over dinner and proceeded to dance the night away. After exchanging phone numbers, they weren't sure what was to come and if they'd ever see each other again as Charlie lived 90 minutes away in Rockford, IL. However, after 3 weeks of non-stop texting, he drove up to take Sarah on their first real date. It wasn't long before they decided they wanted to continue seeing each other, despite the distance.

They spent the next 3 and a half years in a long distance relationship. The first year involved a 90 minute drive between Rockford and Milwaukee. Then, in August 2019, Charlie moved to La Crosse to finish school, extending the drive to three hours. Sarah and Charlie took turns making the journey each weekend so that they could see each other as much as possible. This was of course made complicated by the pandemic.

Finally, in May 2022 after many weekend trips and over 60,000 miles driven (but who's counting?), Charlie finished school and moved in with Sarah in Milwaukee. In July 2022 they got their goofball pup Maggie. Then, in October 2023, they got engaged!
