Danielle and Sean met in June 2021 on a dating app, while living half way across the country from each other. Sean was living in Saskatoon, and Danielle was travel nursing in BC. Sean found out the military was posting him to Comox, Vancouver Island, at the end of July. Danielle was returning to travel nurse nearby in Campbell River, Vancouver Island, at the end of July. As the stars aligned, Sean and Danielle set their app location to the same area, knowing they would be there in 6 weeks. Sean came across Danielle's profile and boldly made the first move by giving a thumb's up to a picture of Danielle wearing a Toronto Maple Leafs Hat. This was a good sign. After some mild internet stalking, Danielle struck up a conversation with Sean. There began the all-day chats, 6 hour phone conversations, and a start of something great!
6 weeks later, Sean arrived a day early to Vancouver Island so he could meet Danielle for their first date in Campbell River. They walked to the Wharf and sat on the pier with some wine, listening to the ocean waves, and talking for hours.
Fast forward to 3 months later (we moved fast!), Danielle moved in with Sean while still doing travel nursing contracts at the Campbell River Hospital (45 minutes north of Comox). 3 months after that, Danielle convinced Sean to travel 10 hours by ferry and road to pick up our fluffy little Samoyed puppy, Koda. Since then, we've been the 3 best friends that anyone could have.
Early September, 2023, Sean and Danielle planned to do a 5 day trek up the highest mountain on Vancouver Island; the Golden Hinde. Since the forest fires were out of control, we couldn't go. Danielle was a grumpy pants. Little did Danielle know, Sean was planning to pop the question on the peak and now had to figure out a backup plan! After persuading Danielle to go for a bike ride through the Seal Bay forest, and walk down to the ocean, Danielle was hangry and asking for snacks. When Sean went into his backpack to grab the "snacks", he instead turned around with a ring! Danielle kind of blacked out after that, but knows Sean said some cute words!
Fast forward to now, we have hiked so many mountains and been on so many adventures as a little family of 3. The Raven Lodge (our venue) is special to us, as it's located at the start of a beautiful network of back country trails we've fallen in love with. The alter looks over one of our favourite hikes, Mount Albert Edward. Since we will be living in Kingston, ON, as of August 2024, coming back to the island to celebrate with friends and family is a big dream of ours. It will be so special to share our love of the Island with those we care about most. We know it's a big ask, but we hope you all can join us!!
