Our Wedding

My first impression of Shelby was in the bible study we both attended. She was discussing the accuracy of scripture with a passion I had never seen before, and it got my attention. Over the next few months, as I got to know her better, I was drawn to her more and more. Before long, I was strategizing with my college roommates on how best to pursue her. On Sunday, May 8th 2022 at A&M Church of Christ after Dean Barham (our officiant) preached a sermon about the qualities of the kind of woman you want to date, I asked Shelby on our first date. She was not aware that this was a date at the time, but it ended up working out. Obviously. After our first date, I called my Mom and told her I had just gone on a date with my future wife, and I never looked back. Now, just shy of two years after that first date, I am making good on that crazy prediction I made to my Mom. Or was it a promise? I prayed for many, many days that Shelby would be my wife after that first date, and it is clear to me that God has been involved from the very beginning, and He has involved many other people in the story of our relationship as well, including you! We are inviting you because you have had some sort of impact on Shelbys life, or mine, or both! You are part of our story, and I want to thank you for that. Please enjoy our wedding.

Meet Alissa, a friend beginning in 4th grade through a common bond with our best friend, Abby. Our story began as "frenemies" vying for Abby's attention, but our relationship evolved into a deep and genuine appreciation for one another. Alissa's legendary corn maze birthday parties in middle school kept our friend group close, laying the foundation for a high school adventure marked by shared AP classes, health science studies, and orchestra performances that strengthened our friendship.

As we left for college, Alissa and I took on the challenge of biomedical engineering together, facing the rigors of academia side by side. Through our time as roommates, we transformed into pillars of mutual support as we navigated the complexities of coursework, sharing not only laughter and tears but also the triumphs of overcoming academic hurdles. During a late-night drive home from one of our cherished college game nights, Alissa, in her wise encouragement, played a pivotal role in nudging me to go on that nerve-wracking first date with Seth.

Alissa has been a constant companion throughout my life, offering unwavering friendship and support. I owe so much of who I am today to her presence and guidance.

Meet Sam, a blessing in my life since 7th grade. Our journey began through mutual connections, namely Alissa and our shared Girl Scout adventures. During 9th grade, our bond deepened, fueled by a shared passion for dance and the camaraderie forged in navigating the dramatic landscape of school performance teams. Sam has consistently proven to be a dedicated, patient, and selfless friend. Now, as our friends scatter, her role as the "glue" of our friend group is more evident than ever. Sam's unwavering commitment ensures we never become too entangled in the fast-paced nature of our lives, always making time for shared joy and laughter. Now, as she lends her talents to help plan this wedding, her loving support that has been my anchor through moments of overwhelm is continually on my mind, and I am profoundly grateful to have Sam as a steadfast presence in my life. I couldn't imagine navigating this journey without her by my side.
