Meet Alissa, a friend beginning in 4th grade through a common bond with our best friend, Abby. Our story began as "frenemies" vying for Abby's attention, but our relationship evolved into a deep and genuine appreciation for one another. Alissa's legendary corn maze birthday parties in middle school kept our friend group close, laying the foundation for a high school adventure marked by shared AP classes, health science studies, and orchestra performances that strengthened our friendship. As we left for college, Alissa and I took on the challenge of biomedical engineering together, facing the rigors of academia side by side. Through our time as roommates, we transformed into pillars of mutual support as we navigated the complexities of coursework, sharing not only laughter and tears but also the triumphs of overcoming academic hurdles. During a late-night drive home from one of our cherished college game nights, Alissa, in her wise encouragement, played a pivotal role in nudging me to go on that nerve-wracking first date with Seth.
