Our celebratory events on Friday and Saturday will be hosted at The Poplars at Bearwallow Mountain. The Poplars is about 35 minutes from the Asheville Regional Airport and 30 minutes from downtown Asheville.
The roads out to Bearwallow Mountain are windy and the road up to the Poplars itself is a gravel mountain pass. Post-Helene, it's the kind of road where you might wonder what we were thinking, so just be prepared for that.
If you are staying in Gerton, be mindful that Uber/Lyft may not be available out near the mountain. ✌️ With all of that in mind...
SATURDAY SHUTTLES
For Saturday, we will be coordinating pick-ups to both downtown and Gerton homes. We will reach out with shuttle information (pick-up times/locations) the week leading up to the wedding. Text Michael or Sinclaire if you still don't know what's happening come Friday. For Friday night, please plan to get yourself to the venue, and we will have "just in case" shuttles if any parties need help home at the end off the night.
DRIVING NOTES TO VENUE FROM ALL DIRECTIONS
1) Most Direct Route from Downtown Asheville or traveling West on I-40 from Raleigh-Winston-Salem-Charlotte (30 minutes)
Please note: If you feel uncomfortable driving on 1/2 mile of a narrow gravel road, please use one of the alternate routes 2,3,4 below.
Take I-40 East to 74-A (Fairview, Bat Cave, Blue Ridge Parkway exit)
• Stay on 74-A (Old Charlotte HWY) for approx. 11 miles, eventually the road becomes two lanes and winding up the mountain towards Gerton.
-After you come over the top of the mountain, you’ll see signs that say eastern continental divide-Henderson County and Welcome to Gerton) Now go down the curves about 1 mile and turn right on Bearwallow Mountain Road (Located just before the Gerton volunteer fire department)
Please note at the intersection of Bearwallow Mountain Road and Highway 74 you will see a few signs that say “road closed or road closed to through traffic” Simply drive around the signs. NCDOT still has those up to prevent excessive traffic from Hurricane Helene damage.
• After turning right on Bearwallow Mtn. Road The Poplars venue Is 1.5 miles on right.
The last .5 miles is gravel and narrow in a few places from Hurricane Helene. This route is mostly used by Asheville residence and Gerton residents to and from Asheville daily but sketchy in a few places where the gravel road narrows.
Therefore, if you feel uncomfortable driving on narrow gravel roads, please use one of the alternate routes below.
2) From the Western side of Asheville (35 minutes)
Take I-240 East to I-40 West
Take first Exit (Exit 51) to Sweeten Creek Road (Highway 25A) heading south to Mills Gap Road.
Turn left onto Mills Gap Rd.
Take Mills Gap Rd. to Hoopers Creek Rd. (5.7 miles)
Turn left on Hoopers Creek Rd.
Stay on Hoopers Creek (past Charlie’s on the Creek) 2.5 miles to a T intersection at Hoopers Creek Baptist church. (Church will be on your right; cemetery will be on your left)
Take a left at this intersection (still Hoopers Creek Road)
Stay on Hoopers Creek until the road becomes N. Bearwallow Mtn. Rd. (approx. 1.5 miles)
Stay on North Bearwallow Mtn. Rd. (approx. 2.7 miles) to Left on Bearwallow Mtn. Rd
Stay on Bearwallow Mtn. 3.0 miles until you arrive at The Poplars on the left. (FYI the last .5 miles is a gravel road)
3) From Hendersonville (25 minutes)
Directions start at intersection of I-26 and Highway 64 (Exit 49A)
Take 64 East to Fruitland Rd.
Take a left onto Fruitland Rd. (at the high school)
Stay on Fruitland road until you come to a stop sign in Fruitland.
Go through the intersection onto Old Clear Creek.
Stay on Old Clear Creek (You will drive past the two largest plastic cows you’ve ever seen) until you come to Bearwallow Mtn. Road.
Turn left onto Bearwallow Mtn. Rd.
Stay on Bearwallow Mtn. 3.0 miles until you arrive at The Poplars on the left. (FYI the last .5 miles is a gravel road)
4) From Asheville Regional Airport (25 minutes)

Turn left onto State Rte 1358/Fanning Bridge Rd
Turn left onto Hendersonville Rd
Turn right onto Cane Creek Rd
