Explore downtown Vicenza - Stacey's old high school stomping grounds.
Climb (beware it's A LOT of stairs) or drive up to Monte Berico to get a scenic overlook of downtown Vicenza. While up there you can visit the ornate and beautiful Basilica of St. Mary and then grab a bite to eat at Ristorante Ai Sette Santi! https://www.aisettesanti.it/
Explore the city of love (città dell'amore ). Home to the inspiration behind Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. Or visit an intact ancient Roman Empire Colosseum (similar to the famous one in Rome) where concerts and events are still held to this day. If you are more of a shopper, Verona has many stores and high end shops available for you peruse.
So MANY things to see in this famous Italian city - St. Marks Basilica, the Rialto Bridge, Piazza San Marco, the Grand Canal, the Doge's palace, and much more! And when you get tired of walking, hop on a Gondola ride to explore the city via it's historic waterways.
Also located in downtown Vicenza is Teatro Olimpico. It is the oldest enclosed theater in the world. Constructed in 1580–1585 by the Italian Renaissance architect Andrea Palladio. Stacey was fortunate to play the flute in her band's orchestra for the graduation ceremony of Vicenza American High School - one of the last times VHS was able to use this historic site for its graduations before the school expanded.
One of our favorite wineries in the region is Villa Sandi. Villa Sandi is among the "World's Best Vineyards 2023". They are especially famous for their Prosecco. Please highly consider booking a tour of their winery and doing a tasting!
Another favorite winery of ours! Known for their Amarone wines - one of the "kings" or "royalty" of wine. Their vineyard displays the "classic" image one conjures up when picturing Italian Wine.
