Steph & Pete

Our Story

Pete and Steph first crossed paths at the Lobsterman Triathlon in 2013, they just didn’t know it. They were like two ships passing in the, uh, sunrise? One ship (Steph) was having a much better time than the other (Pete). It was Pete’s first triathlon, and as a non-swimmer, when a marking buoy went rogue and made the swim a quarter mile longer, it was not to his advantage.

They then knowingly met during many other triathlons through their collegiate racing careers. The men’s swim wave always went off before the women’s, so Steph would catch up during the swim and close the gap at the beginning of the bike while Pete was still coughing up the remnants of the lake/ocean. Steph’s name was printed on the back of her trisuit, so Pete always cheered for her by name as she passed. Steph would then do the same when he would (usually) catch her back on the run, his specialty.

Flash forward through the end of graduate school, and Steph and Pete crossed paths again in late 2020. Global warming graced them with a 60 degree November night for their first date on the patio of Pastoral in the Fort Point neighborhood, at a time when indoor dining was not allowed. They hit it off, and their second date was a long run through Boston, followed by drinks at a brewery. Pete ended the date by lending Steph a book, a ploy to ensure a third date. He managed to combine three of Steph’s favorite things into 6 hours, so she was hooked.

Three years, 13 National Parks, 90+ breweries, and thousands of miles later (biked, hiked, ran, skied, and driven), we’re so excited to celebrate our big day with all of you!
