How do I prepare for the altitude?
HYDRATE! That is the number one thing we can recommend. There's nothing worse than traveling to high altitudes and experiencing altitude sickness. Just drink lots of water, and start about 2 days before your arrival.
Denver is at an elevation of 5,280 feet above sea level. Evergreen is at an elevation of 7,165 feet above sea level.

How's the weather in September?
Weather in Colorado can be very unpredictable. Storms can roll in and roll out in about 20 minutes. During September you can expect the highs to be 60s-70s in Denver and the front range, and the lows can range 30s-40s. Brrrr! We recommend layers! Something to have for when it's warmer out and something to put on for when the chill comes through. Also note that being in the mountains you can expect chillier temps at times, so always bring something warm just in case.
What advise do you have for hiking?
We first recommend doing a little research on a trail that interest you. Using the app "All Trails" is great and we suggest downloading it. Next, have plenty of water! When the altitude starts getting to you on the trail, having plenty of water to sip on really makes a difference in keeping those symptoms at bay. Bring a light snack like a granola bar. Also we recommend taking note of the weather before a hike and dressing accordingly. And another piece of advise is to always stay on trail, have a sense of direction and a charged phone or even portable charger.
