The neighborhoods that you will be frequenting (Juarez, Condesa, Roma, Polanco) are considered to be very safe. You should feel safe walking around during the day. Beyond that, take the same precautions you would take in any other large city.
How should I get around the city?
Uber is highly recommended in Mexico City for convenience and safety. It’s typically ~$5- $10 to get most places in the city with Uber. Be prepared for heavy traffic when considering travel times (as a general rule of thumb, add about 10-15 minutes to the ETA on your Uber app).
Can I drink the water?
No, even locals only drink bottled water. All water and ice served to you at our wedding events and at restaurants will be from bottled water. Be careful eating street food.
Should I plan to use a credit card or cash only?
Many restaurants, bars, and other establishments take credit cards, but it's always great to have Pesos handy (you'll need them for street tacos)! ATMs are widely available, but you can always order Pesos from your bank ahead of your visit.
How much should I tip?
Generally, you should tip about 10% at a restaurant. This is often added to the bill by the restaurant itself (look for the propina charge). On drinks, it’s typical to tip about 15% on the bill, or about 20 pesos per drink.
What is the weather?
