Anything you would wear to a nice restaurant is perfect. If you'd like to wear Indian Attire for this event, go for it! Scroll down for more details on Indian outfits (if needed).
Note: If you're planning to participate in the Mehndi ceremony, make sure you're able to roll up your sleeves!
This event is a very casual daytime party. Dress comfortably!
All guests have the choice of wearing Festive Indian or Western attire (details below). Whatever you choose, we'd love for you to have fun with your outfits and show off your personal style!
For Women: Gowns, fancy cocktail dresses, and dressy jumpsuits featuring vibrant colors.
For Men: Suits & ties. Feel free to be creative with prints, patterns and colors!
Bright colors are encouraged! Here are examples of a few types of outfits:
Lehenga: A long skirt paired with a blouse (commonly referred to as the "choli").
Salwar kameez / Anarkali Suit: A medium-length or long dress with pants or leggings.
Sari: A long piece of fabric (usually 6 yards) that is draped around the body. It can be difficult to put on if you've never done it before- Rahul's family and friends can help!
Pre-Stitched Sari: A regular sari is difficult to put on, so a pre-draped sari may be an easier option as it's already stitched together.
Shoes: Wear what's comfortable--heels, flats, and sandals all work.
We recommend wearing a kurta set or a number of Indian suits as detailed below:
Kurta Set: A kurta is a knee-length tunic shirt that reaches below the knees, paired with with pants. If you want to spruce it up, you can also consider wearing a vest ("koti" or "nehru jacket") on top.
Bandhgala (also referred to as a Jodhpuri Suit): A closed neck suit. Sometimes it only comes as a jacket, so if that's the case, feel free to pair it with slacks.
Sherwani: This offers a more upscale, elegant look with embroidery and heavier fabric. It's a long-sleeved coat that is buttoned up to your neck. To complete the look you pair with slim pajama or "churidar" pants.
Shoes: It may depend on your exact outfit, but loafers are fine.
