Mountain Biking (or E-bike/City/Road Biking)

Picture of Mountain Biking (or E-bike/City/Road Biking)

Mountain Biking:

We highly recommend renting a mountain bike (MTB) and jumping on MTB Project to search for trails for your skill level in the area. We love the Forest Hollow Trail that is mostly downhill and goes along the canyon rim to downtown if you have some cars to shuttle. We also love the red mountain trails and Prince Creek Trails (Father of Ginormous in particular) for more up and down riding.

Downhill MTB:

Snowmass Bike Park offers 25 miles of purpose-built, diverse trails—from beginner-friendly and flowing singletrack to adrenaline-inducing downhill—the Snowmass Bike Park extends almost 3,000 vertical feet from the top of the Elk Camp Chairlift down to Snowmass Base Village. Plan your trip and find your flow no matter your skill level this summer at Colorado's Gold-Level Bike Park. They also offer clinics for learning.

City/Road Biking:

If you are looking for a paved, flat scenic ride you can do the Glenwood Canyon Bike Path. Sunlight bike shop also offers shuttles to the top of sunlight resort so you can coast downhill to the town again if you don't want to pedal uphill.

Sunlight Bike shop in downtown Glenwood rents all equipment and bike racks for cars!

Self-Guided Historic Tour of Glenwood

Picture of Self-Guided Historic Tour of Glenwood

Learn about the history of Glenwood Springs with the Self guided tour and information sheet (see link below). Before Glenwood Springs was a Colorado hot springs hot spot, it was a Wild West frontier town called Defiance. As raucous and ramshackle as its original name implied, it was home to a cast of characters that included gamblers and gunslingers, industrialists and entrepreneurs. Like an ornery child, it eventually matured and became well-mannered and welcoming, the Glenwood Springs we know today. But its knockabout origins can still be seen, just beneath the surface. Take a stroll through Glenwood Springs and admire the architecture of these must-see historical hotspots. Historical tours in Colorado transport you back to wilder times!
