Am I allowed to take photos during the Ceremony?
We love how excited you are to share this day with us, and we want you to be able to memorialize the happiness. However, our ceremony will be "unplugged"! We ask that all phones and cameras be put away during the ceremony so you and our other guests are not distracted by devices, and our wedding photographers can get the best possible shots! We will be happy to share photos with anyone who wants them!
What is the dress code?
For the Welcome Party our guests should feel comfortable in casual attire. While the boat does have heated interior space, guests should dress warmly for exterior areas.
For the Ceremony, Cocktail Hour and the Reception we ask that our guests adhere to Black Tie Optional attire.
What is Black Tie Optional?
For Men: Tuxedos are encouraged, but you can opt for a dark suit.
For Women: Formal floor length gowns are encouraged, but you can opt for a dressy cocktail dress.
Will the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception take place indoors or outdoors?
The ceremony and cocktail hour will be held outdoors. The ceremony will be on the Great Lawn, an open grassy area overlooking the Straits of Mackinac. The cocktail hour will be held on the adjacent patio. The reception will be held indoors in the Sunset Pavilion.
In the event of rain, the ceremony will be moved indoors into the Sunset Pavilion and the cocktail hour will remain on the patio, but will be covered.
What will the weather be like?
One of the many reasons we love Mackinac Island in the fall is the vibrant autumn colors. However, it is October in the Upper Peninsula and it can be a bit cool. On average you can expect daytime highs in the mid 50s and upper 30s for nighttime lows. While we hope there won't be any rain on our special day, there is always the possibility of shower so pack your umbrella and rain coat (just in case).
How do I get to the wedding venue?
Another great reason why we love Mackinac so much - there are no cars allowed on the island! With that in mind, if you are not staying on site at The Inn at Stonecliffe, you can arrange a carriage "taxi" to bring you from your hotel. Information about booking a carriage can be found in the Travel section.
Am I allowed to bring a plus one?
While we wish we could celebrate with everyone, our celebration is strictly RSVP only. We will only be able to accommodate those listed on your wedding invitation.
Are kids welcome?
We love your little ones, but our wedding will be an adults-only event so that everyone can relax and enjoy the festivities! We appreciate you making arrangements ahead of time and leaving the kids at home so you can celebrate with us!!
What type of food and drink will be served during the cocktail hour and reception?
During cocktail hour we will be serving passed hors d'oeuvres and of course COCKTAILS - including two signature cocktails carefully picked out to represent each one of the Grooms. Dinner will consist of a two-course meal with a salad and your choice of entree. But save room for dessert because the meal will be topped off with delicious wedding cake!
I have dietary restrictions/allergies. What is the best way to let you know?
We want to make sure that we can accommodate any dietary restrictions or food allergies. The best way to let us know is to include it on your RSVP card, or you can provide it during the RSVP process on our website.
Will there be an open bar?
Of course!!
Where are we registered?
We are so thankful and excited that you will be able to join us in celebrating our love on Mackinac Island. While gifts are not expected, we have registered for a few items we need for our newlywed home. A link to our registry and honeymoon fund can be found on our website.
Should I bring a gift to your destination wedding?
Since you are traveling for our special day, making the trip alone is enough - physical gifts are absolutely not necessary! If you do choose to browse our wedding registry, however, any items on the list can be shipped directly to our home address. Please contact us directly for the address.
